Dutch Afghan
Dutch Afghans ( nl, Afghaanse Nederlanders) are Dutch citizens and non-citizen residents born in, or with ancestors from, Afghanistan. In 2015 there were 44,000 Dutch Afghans, which form one of the largest Afghan diaspora communities as well as one of the main Asian communities in the Netherlands. Most of the first generation population originally settled in the Netherlands between 1992 and 2001. Migration history Afghan refugees began flowing into the Netherlands in the late 1980s, fleeing violence in their homeland. In the decade up to 2002, the Netherlands was the second-most popular destination in Europe for Afghan asylum-seekers, behind Germany; they made up more than 20% of the total of roughly 170,000 applications for asylum filed by Afghans in Europe. The Dutch government settled them in a variety of areas with the policy aim of preventing the formation of large immigrant communities in the cities. Statistics Netherlands, founded in 1899, is a Dutch governmental institution that gathers statistical information about the Netherlands. Siyar Bahadurzada
Siyar Bahadurzada ( fa, سیار بهادرزاده; born 17 April 1984) is a retired Afghan-born Dutch mixed martial artist who competed in the Welterweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He currently works as an instructor for Evolve MMA in Singapore. A professional competitor since 2001, he had also competed for World Victory Road, RINGS, and for Shooto, in which he held the title of Shooto Middleweight Champion. Background Bahadurzada was born in Kabul, Afghanistan, on 17 April 1984. His family experienced the Soviet–Afghan War and the Taliban's oppression. His family moved to the Netherlands in 1999. Anoush Dastgir (born 27 November 1989) is an Afghan football manager and retired player, who is the current head coach of both the Afghanistan national team and VV DUNO in Hoofdklasse. Farshad Bashir
Farshad Bashir (born 14 January 1988 in Kabul) is a Dutch politician of Afghan descent. As a member of the Socialist Party (Socialistische Partij) he was an MP from 15 January 2008 to 23 March 2017. He focused on matters of taxation, traffic and water management. Biography His father was a journalist in the daily '' Anis'' during the communist régime. After the take-over of the major part of Afghanistan by the Taliban in 1996, he fled with his family to Tajikistan and thereafter to the Netherlands in 1997, where they were granted asylum. He went to live in Mantgum, which is a village in the province of Friesland. On 10 July 2002, he became a member of the Socialist Party and of its youth organisation ROOD. Omran Haydary (Dari: ; born 13 January 1998) is an Afghan professional footballer who plays for I liga side Arka Gdynia, on loan from Lechia Gdańsk, and the Afghanistan national team.
