Durham Storm
The Durham Storm were a Canadian soccer team that last played in the Canadian Professional Soccer League (CPSL) in 2005. The club was founded as the Toronto Olympians in 1998 and played in Toronto, Ontario through 2001, before being renamed the Mississauga Olympians for 2002 and 2003. The team relocated to Oshawa, Ontario in Durham Region for the 2004 & 2005 seasons and was renamed Durham Storm. The team won three consecutive regular season championships from 1998 to 2000 and won the league playoffs, earning the CPSL Championship once in 1999. They also finished as regular season runners-up in 2001, and were two-time Rogers Cup finalists in 1998 and 2000. Oshawa Civic Stadium
The Oshawa Civic Auditorium was an indoor arena in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada. It operated from 1964 to 2006, and was primarily used as an ice hockey venue for the Oshawa Generals. The auditorium was built as a replacement to the Hambly Arena, which burned down in 1953. The auditorium was part of a larger multi-purpose recreational complex. Construction The construction of the auditorium was led by a committee of residents with the slogan: "Let's build it ourselves, for ourselves." Volunteers raised $1.4 million from the community to fund the project, including $476,000 from the local General Motors employees union (Canadian Auto Workers) through payroll reductions. The City of Oshawa provided 20 acres of land on Thornton Road South, previously designated for a cemetery. Loukas "Lucas" Papaconstantinou (born May 10, 1974) is a Canadian former soccer player who played in The Football League, and the Canadian Professional Soccer League. Playing career Papaconstantinou played for the UAB Blazers in college, making 76 appearances from 1993 to 1996. He began his professional career with Darlington F.C. of the Football League Two in 1997. He made his debut for the club on September 27, 1997 against Mansfield Town F.C. Daryl Holmes
Daryl Holmes is a New Zealand born former professional football player who played the majority of his career in North America. Playing career Holmes played in 1996 in British Columbia in the Vancouver Metro Soccer League with West Van F.C. The following year he signed with Toronto Lynx in the USL A-League. His signing was announced in a press conference revealing the inaugural 1997 team roster. He made his debut for the club on 12 April 1997 in a match against Jacksonville Cyclones. Holmes assisted the club in qualifying for the post season for the first time in the franchise's history, by finishing 4th in the Northeastern division. The North York Astros were a Canadian soccer team that was founded in 1990. The team initially played in the National Soccer League. The team played their home games at Esther Shiner Stadium in North York, a district of the city of Toronto, Canada. The team's colours were orange and black. Open Canada Cup
The Open Canada Cup was an annual knock-out cup competition in Canadian Soccer. The competition was first held during the 1998 season as the CPSL League Cup. Gus Kouzmanis (born 1975) is a Canadian former soccer player who played in the National Professional Soccer League, and the Canadian Professional Soccer League. Playing career Kouzamanis began his career in the Canadian National Soccer League in 1996 with the Toronto Supra. In his debut season with the Supra he helped the club finish third in both regular and cup standings. Chris Handsor (born January 14, 1972) is a Canadian former soccer player who played outdoor and indoor primarily in the USL A-League, National Professional Soccer League, and the Canadian Professional Soccer League. SC Toronto was a Canadian soccer team, founded in 1994. The team was a member of the Canadian Soccer League, and played its final home games at Lamport Stadium in the city of Toronto, Ontario.
