''The Forgetting Moon'' is a 2016 grimdark epic fantasy novel by Brian Lee Durfee, published through Saga Press. Plot A young boy, Nail, is orphaned and subsequently raised by a retired warrior named Shawcroft. Unbeknownst to him, he is part of a much larger plot that involves war and power struggles across the Five Isles. Publication ''The Forgetting Moon'' was published in hardcover and ebook formats on 30 August 2016 through Saga Press, an imprint of Simon & Schuster. Saga released a trade paperback edition on 29 August 2017. Recorded Books released an audiobook narrated by Tim Gerard Reynolds on 30 January 2019. Edmund Durfee
Edmund Durfee (Durfy) Sr. (October 3, 1788 – November 15, 1845) was an American settler and early member of the Latter Day Saint movement who is remembered as a martyr by Latter-day Saints. Biography Born in Tiverton, Rhode Island, Durfee was a farmer, carpenter, and millwright. He married Magdalena Pickle, and they later became the parents of thirteen children. The Durfees joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the 1830s in Ohio. After being driven as religious refugees from Mormon settlements in Ohio and Missouri (''see Missouri Executive Order 44''), they moved to Morley's Settlement in Hancock County, Illinois, about 25 miles due south of Nauvoo, Illinois. In September 1845, a mob of anti-Mormon arsonists rushed upon Morley's Settlement. They burned down the Durfee home and, shortly thereafter, burned down the homes of dozens of other Mormon families. James Randall Durfee
James Randall Durfee (November 3, 1897 – October 29, 1977) was Chairman of the Civil Aeronautics Board and a judge of the United States Court of Claims. Education and career Born on November 3, 1897, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, Durfee received a Bachelor of Laws in 1926 from Marquette University Law School. He served in the United States Army during World War I from 1917 to 1919. He entered private practice in Antigo, Wisconsin from 1926 to 1951. He was district attorney for Langlade County, Wisconsin from 1928 to 1932. He was a Commissioner for the Wisconsin Circuit Court for the Tenth Judicial Circuit from 1934 to 1950. He was a member of the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin from 1951 to 1956, serving as Chairman from 1953 to 1956. He was Chairman of the Civil Aeronautics Board from 1956 to 1960. Job Durfee
Job Durfee (September 20, 1790 – July 26, 1847) was a politician and jurist from Rhode Island. Born at Tiverton, he graduated from Brown University in 1813 and was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Tiverton. He was a member of the Rhode Island House of Representatives from 1816 to 1820, and was elected as a Democratic-Republican to the Seventeenth Congress and was reelected as an Adams-Clay Republican to the Eighteenth Congress, serving from March 4, 1821 to March 3, 1825. He was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1824 to the Nineteenth Congress and for election in 1828 to the Twenty-first Congress; he was again a member of the State house of representatives from 1826 to 1829, serving as speaker from 1827 to 1829. Minta Durfee
Araminta Estelle "Minta" Durfee (October 1, 1889 – September 9, 1975) was an American silent film actress from Los Angeles, California, possibly best known for her role in ''Mickey'' (1918). Biography She met Roscoe Arbuckle when he was attempting to get started in theater, and the two married in August 1908. Durfee entered show business in local companies as a chorus girl at the age of 17. She was the first leading lady of Charlie Chaplin. Durfee and Arbuckle separated in 1921, just prior to a scandal involving the death of starlet Virginia Rappe. There were three trials and finally Arbuckle was acquitted, but his career was destroyed and he received few job offers. Durfee and Arbuckle divorced in 1925. William Pitt Durfee (5 February 1855 – 17 December 1941) was an American mathematician who introduced Durfee squares. He was a student of James Joseph Sylvester, James Sylvester, and after obtaining his degree in 1883 he became a professor at Hobart and William Smith Colleges, Hobart college in 1884 and became dean in 1888.
