José Dupuis
Joseph-Lambert Dupuis (known as José Dupuis) (18 March 1833, Liège – 9 May 1900, Nogent-sur-Marne) was a Belgian singer and actor. He was principally active in opéra-bouffe in Paris, in particular at the Théâtre des Variétés. Career After making his stage debut in Liège, he moved to Paris in 1851 and made his debut at the Théâtre du Luxembourg-Bobino in 1854. In 1857 he was taken on by Hervé at his Folies-Nouvelles, and continued when the theatre became the Théâtre Déjazet (after its joint manager Virginie Déjazet), only moving on, after fifty or so creations, to the Théâtre des Variétés; he made his debut there on 18 May 1861 in ''Le Sylphe'', a vaudeville by Edmond Rochefort, Charles Varin and Desvergers. Arsène Jules Étienne Juvenel Dupuit (18 May 1804 – 5 September 1866) was an Italian-born French civil engineer and economist. He was born in Fossano, Italy then under the rule of Napoleon Bonaparte. At the age of ten he emigrated to France with his family where he studied in Versailles — winning a Physics prize at graduation. He then studied in the École Polytechnique as a civil engineer. He gradually took on more responsibility in various regional posts. He received a Légion d'honneur in 1843 for his work on the French road system, and shortly after moved to Paris. He also studied flood management in 1848 and supervised the construction of the Paris sewer system. He died in Paris. Engineering questions led to his interest in economics, a subject in which he was self-taught. His 1844 article was concerned with deciding the optimum toll for a bridge. Antonius Stanislaus Nicolaas Ludovicus Dupuis (18 February 1877, Antwerp – 13 October 1937, The Hague) was a Dutch sculptor and medallist of Belgian origin. Dupuis was a lecturer at the Koninklijke Academie van Beeldende Kunsten in The Hague. Among his works are a picture of Johannes Zwijsen in the St. Dionysius Church in Tilburg, a statue of Petrus Canisius in the Hunnerpark te Nijmegen, a bust of mgr. Nolens in the in Nijmegen and a bust of Jozef Israëls that is in the collection of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. Thomas Sanders Dupuis, Mus. Doc. (1733–1796) was a composer and organist of French extraction, born in London. He succeeded William Boyce at the Chapel Royal, and was regarded as one of the best organists of his day. Sadie Dupuis (born Sarah Dupuis; July 8, 1988) is an American musician who is the guitarist, lead vocalist and lyricist for the band Speedy Ortiz and formerly for the band Quilty. She has also released two solo albums, ''Slugger'' and ''Haunted Painting'', under the name Sad13. Dupuis has published two books of poetry. Philippe Dupuis (; born April 24, 1985) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Colorado Avalanche and the Toronto Maple Leafs. Playing career Dupuis was drafted 104th overall in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft by the Columbus Blue Jackets from Hull Olympiques of the QMJHL. On July 28, 2005, Dupuis signed a 3-year entry-level contract with the Blue Jackets. After 5 years in the QMJHL, Dupuis made his professional debut in the 2006–07 season with the Syracuse Crunch of the AHL. Pascal Dupuis (born April 7, 1979) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey left winger. Dupuis played 14 seasons in the NHL for the Minnesota Wild, New York Rangers, Atlanta Thrashers, and Pittsburgh Penguins. Dupuis retired in December 2015 due to health issues, although contractually he remained on the Pittsburgh Penguins’ long-term injury reserve list until the end of the 2016–17 NHL season.
