Dungog, New South Wales
Dungog is a country town on the Williams River in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, Australia. Located in the middle of dairy and timber country, it is the centre of the Dungog Shire local government area and at the 2016 census it had a population of 2,025 people. The area includes the Fosterton Loop, of road, used in the annual Pedalfest. A small portion of Dungog lies in the Mid-Coast Council LGA. Casino railway station is a heritage-listed railway station on the North Coast line in New South Wales, Australia. Opening on 22 September 1930, it serves the town of Casino in the Richmond Valley Shire. It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999. History The original Casino railway station (now named Old Casino railway station) opened on 19 October 1903 when the Murwillumbah line was extended from Lismore, ultimately reaching Grafton in 1905. However, when the North Coast line was extended from Kyogle to the Queensland border, it would not pass through the Old Casino railway station, as that segment of the line would become a branch line to the new mainline. The Hunter Railcars are a class of diesel multiple unit operated by NSW TrainLink on the Hunter Line in New South Wales, Australia. Built by UGL Rail between November 2006 and September 2007, they initially operated for CityRail. History In 2001, the Government of New South Wales called for tenders for seven two-carriage railcar sets to replace the remaining 620/720 railcars on Hunter Line services, with a contract awarded to Goninan in 2002. Each set comprises two powered cars with one having a toilet. The first set entered service on 23 November 2006, operating a small number of Newcastle to Telarah services on Thursday and Fridays only. The Endeavour Railcars are a class of diesel multiple units operated by NSW TrainLink on passenger rail services in New South Wales, Australia on the Hunter, Blue Mountains (to Bathurst), Southern Highlands and South Coast lines (between Kiama and Bomaderry). They are mechanically identical to the Xplorers. All 30 carriages were built by ABB Transportation in Dandenong, Victoria. Fourteen two-carriage sets were ordered in April 1992 to replace Class 620/720 railcars, DEB set railcars and locomotive hauled stock, with the first entering service in March 1994.
