Dundalk Rugby Football Club ( ) is an amateur Irish Rugby football club from Dundalk, County Louth. They compete in Division 1B of the Leinster League. The club was established in 1877 and became a founder member of the Provincial Towns Union, which then merged into what became the Northern Branch of the Irish Rugby Football Union. They later joining the Leinster branch of the IRFU. They have been a junior club throughout their existence, with the exception of the 2015–16 season when they competed in Division 2C of the All-Ireland League. Their first tournament win was a Leinster Junior Cup victory in 1908–09. They won their first Leinster Towns Cup in 1931–32 and have won the competition ten times, with the most recent victory coming in 2010–11. Leinster Rugby ( ga, Rugbaí Laighean) is one of the four professional provincial rugby union teams from the island of Ireland and the most successful Irish team domestically. They compete in the United Rugby Championship and the European Rugby Champions Cup. Leinster play their home games primarily at the RDS Arena, although larger games are played in the Aviva Stadium when the capacity of the RDS is insufficient. Before moving to the RDS in 2005, Leinster's traditional home ground was Donnybrook Stadium, in Dublin 4. The province plays primarily in blue with white or yellow trim and the team crest features a harp within a rugby ball, the harp being an ancient symbol of the province found in and taken from the flag of Leinster, although the colours are closer to the flag of the President of Ireland or the Coat of arms of Ireland. The Great Northern Railway (Ireland) (GNR(I) or GNRI) was an Irish gauge () railway company in Ireland. It was formed in 1876 by a merger of the Irish North Western Railway (INW), Northern Railway of Ireland, and Ulster Railway. The governments of Ireland and Northern Ireland jointly nationalised the company in 1953, and the company was liquidated in 1958: assets were split on national lines between the Ulster Transport Authority and Córas Iompair Éireann. Ennis RFC, or Ennis Rugby Football Club, in an amateur rugby union club based on the Drumbiggle Road in Ennis, County Clare adjacent to the Ennis Showgrounds which has a ground capacity of up to 1,000. The club often use the Clare County Council community facility at Lee's Road for training. The club currently plays in the Munster Junior League division 2. History The club was formed in 1923. All-Ireland Cup (rugby Union)
The All-Ireland Cup, also known as the Bateman Cup, is a knock-out competition for the winners of the four provincial rugby union cups in Ireland. History The Bateman Cup ran from 1922 to 1939 as a competition for the four provincial cup-winners, but did not continue after the Second World War. The competition was revived in 1975 for the centenary of the Irish Rugby Football Union. In 2006, an All-Ireland Cup was instituted for the top teams in the All-Ireland League, and in 2010 this was changed to the old Bateman Cup format, with only the four provincial cup winners taking part, and the Bateman Cup trophy presented to the winners. The Louth County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) ( ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael, Coiste Chontae an Lú) or Louth GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland, and is responsible for Gaelic games in County Louth. 1949 FAI Cup Final
The 1949 FAI Cup Final was the final match of the 1948–49 FAI Cup, a knock-out association football competition contested annually by clubs affiliated with the Football Association of Ireland. It took place on Sunday 10 April 1949 at Dalymount Park in Dublin, and was contested by Dundalk and Shelbourne. Dundalk won 3–0 to win their second FAI Cup. Background Both sides had finished level on 23 points in the League – six points behind champions Drumcondra. Shelbourne had defeated Dundalk to win the League of Ireland Shield earlier in the season, and defeated non-League Freebooters, St Patrick's Athletic and Waterford to make the final. Aviva Stadium (also known as Lansdowne Road) is a sports stadium located in Dublin, Ireland, with a capacity for 51,700 spectators (all seated). It is built on the site of the former Lansdowne Road Stadium, which was demolished in 2007, and replaced it as home to its chief tenants: the Irish rugby union team and the Republic of Ireland football team. St Mary's College Rugby Football Club is a rugby union club based in South Dublin, Ireland, playing in Division 1B of the All-Ireland League. The club was founded in 1900 by former pupils of St. Mary's College, Dublin and was originally known as Old St Mary's. They club won the Leinster Senior Cup for the first time in 1958. In 2000 they won the AIB League for the first time under the captaincy of Trevor Brennan.
