Dumb Numbers
Dumb Numbers is the musical project of Adam Harding. Harding selects musicians for each Dumb Numbers project from a large group of friends and collaborators.” Lou Barlow, Dale Crover, Bobb Bruno (of Best Coast) and others contributed to the first two studio albums. A genre-defying act, Dumb Numbers musical style has been described variously as doom, sludge, and "swooning feedback pop," however there is general agreement that none of these labels are definitive. Jennifer Lee Lindberg (born July 30, 1981) is an American musician, singer-songwriter and record producer, best known as the bassist of the indie rock band Warpaint. In 2015, Lindberg released her first solo album, '' Right On!'', under the name "Jennylee". Personal life Lindberg was born on July 30, 1981 in Elko, Nevada. She is the daughter of Sherry Sossamon, a nurse, and Todd Lindberg. She is the sister of actress and musician Shannyn Sossamon. Following their parents' divorce when Lindberg was two, she and her sister were raised by their mother, who remarried to Randy Goldman. Her maternal grandmother is of Hawaiian and Filipino descent, while the rest of her ancestry is English, German, Dutch, French and Irish. Flipper (band)
Flipper is an American punk rock band formed in San Francisco, California in 1979, continuing in often erratic fashion until the mid-1990s, then reuniting in 2005. The band influenced a number of grunge, punk rock and noise rock bands. Their slowed-down, bass-driven and heavily distorted style of punk is considered to have inspired bands such as the Melvins and Nirvana, whose bass player Krist Novoselic played with the band in the 2000s. Qui (band)
Qui (pronounced as "Kwee") are a rock group formed in 2000 in Los Angeles by Paul Christensen (drums/vocals) and Matt Cronk (guitar/vocals). A combination of punk, noise and experimental rock, they released their first full-length album ''Baby Kisses'' in 2003. In 2006, after performing a number of shows as a guest vocalist, David Yow (ex-Scratch Acid, The Jesus Lizard) joined the band as vocalist, and features on the 2007 album ''Love's Miracle'', released on Mike Patton's label Ipecac Recordings. Most of the songs on this album were written before Yow joined, but were reworked to take account of his vocals. The first release with Yow fully involved came with the 2007 single "Today, Gestation" / "Freeze". In early 2008, Yow was hospitalized with a punctured lung after a show in Pittsburgh. Scratch Acid
Scratch Acid was an Austin, Texas noise rock group formed in 1982. One of the pioneers of noise rock in the 1980s, the band is best remembered as a stepping stone for its front man David Yow, and bass player David Wm. Sims, both later of The Jesus Lizard. History Scratch Acid was launched in Austin, Texas in 1982. When they first began, their lineup was Steve Anderson (vocals), David Wm. Sims (guitar), Brett Bradford (guitar), David Yow (bass), and Rey Washam (drums). Anderson was kicked out of the band before they ever recorded an album, prompting Yow to move to vocals and Sims to move to bass. Folk Implosion
The Folk Implosion is an American band founded in the early 1990s by Lou Barlow and John Davis. It was initially a side-project started by Barlow to explore different territory than that being canvassed with his primary band at the time, Sebadoh. The name is a play on the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. The band was on hiatus from 2004-2020. History Following the release of Sebadoh's ''Bubble and Scrape'' in 1993, Barlow received a tape from Davis, songwriter and librarian, that kicked off their collaboration as a songwriting team and studio recording project. The Folk Implosion released '' Walk Through This World with the Folk Implosion'' on cassette in 1993 on the Communion Label and as a 7" EP in 1994 on Drunken Fish. Swans (band)
Swans is an American experimental rock band formed in 1982 by singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Michael Gira. One of the few acts to emerge from the New York City-based no wave scene and stay intact into the next decade, Swans have become recognized for an ever-changing sound, exploring genres such as noise rock, post-punk, industrial music, industrial and post-rock. Initially, their music was known for its sonic brutality and misanthropic lyrics. Following the addition of singer, songwriter and keyboardist Jarboe in 1986, Swans began to incorporate melody and intricacy into their music. Murph (drummer)
Emmett Jefferson Murphy III (born December 21, 1964), professionally credited as both Patrick Murphy and Murph, is best known for being the drummer for the alternative rock band Dinosaur Jr. He was a member of the group from its founding in 1984 through 1993, and since the original lineup reformed in 2005. Musical career Murph was initially the drummer in the hardcore punk band All White Jury. He met J Mascis and Lou Barlow through Mascis' friend Charlie Nakajima and was soon after invited to join their band Deep Wound. Deep Wound disbanded and Mascis, Barlow, and Murph formed Dinosaur Jr without Nakajima. Murph would remain in the band until leaving the group in 1993. He joined The Lemonheads in 1995. Kidbug
Kidbug is an international cuddlebug-sludge supergroup composed of musicians signed to Joyful Noise Recordings. The project was conceived of by Marina Tadic ( Eerie Wanda) and Adam Harding (Dumb Numbers). They are joined by Thor Harris (Swans), and Bobb Bruno (Best Coast, Pocahaunted). Dale Crover (Melvins, Nirvana et al.) plays drums on the final track of their eponymously titled full-length studio-album debut. Origin Kidbug was originally conceived as a project in December 2018, during Joyful Noise Recordings annual Christmas party and holiday album recording sessions. "We all convened at Postal Recording in Indianapolis to record Christmas songs for the label, and it just sort of grew from there,” Harding explains.
