Dulal Manki
Dulal Manki is an Indian Assamese folk artist and musician. He is one of the traditional folk music artists from Tea-garden community of Assam. In 2021, the Government of India awarded him the Padma Shri for his contribution on music. Early life and education Manki was born in 1964 in Dhayedam Tea Garden of Tinsukia district, Assam. His father was Mathur Chandra Manki. Dulal Manki received his early education at Dhayedam Tea Garden Primary School. After that he studied at Barsapjan High School. After completing his high school education, he was enrolled in Dumduma College, a part of Dibrugarh University. During the Assam movement in the eighties, he was half-educated due to the turbulent situation. Music life Manki was born into a musical family. His father was a folk musician and was familiar with the traditional songs of the ''Chah'' community. He received his early musical education from his father. Ram Nath Kovind
Ram Nath Kovind (; born 1 October 1945) is an Indian politician who served as the 14th President of India from 2017 to 2022. He is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He is the second person after K. R. Narayanan, from the Dalit community to occupy the post. Prior to his presidency, he served as the 26th Governor of Bihar from 2015 to 2017 and as a Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha from 1994 to 2006. Angaraag Mahanta (born 24 November 1975), known by his stagename Papon, is an Indian playback singer, composer and record producer from Assam. Papon has also sung in many languages apart from Assamese like Hindi, Bengali, Tamil and Marathi. He is the lead vocalist and founder of the folk-fusion band ''Papon and The East India Company''. Simanta Shekhar (born 18 May 1982) is an Indian singer, composer and music producer from Assam. He was appointed by the government of Assam to chair the Assam State Film Finance and Development Corporation. Shekhar's music consists mainly of folk fusion and Indi-pop. Tea-garden Community Of Assam
The Tea-garden community are multi ethnic groups of tea garden workers and their descendants in Assam. They are officially referred to as ''Tea-tribes'' by Government of Assam. They are the descendants of peoples brought by the British colonial planters as indentured labourers from the regions of present-day Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh into colonial Assam during 1860-90s in multiple phases to work in tea gardens.
