Duke Mondy
Murray Deshawn "Duke" Mondy (born December 2, 1990) is an American professional basketball player for the Grand Rapids Gold of the NBA G League. He played college basketball for the Oakland Golden Grizzlies where he led the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I in steals per game during his junior season, averaging 3.03 steals per game. High school career Mondy attended Catholic Central High School in Grand Rapids, Michigan and was rated a two-star recruit by both Scout.com and Rivals.com. He received scholarship offers from Providence and Central Michigan. College career Mondy started his career at Providence before transferring to Oakland following his sophomore season. 2023–24 NBA G League Season
The 2023–24 NBA G League season will be the 23rd season of the NBA G League, which is the minor league basketball league of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Structure The Showcase Cup will start in November, 2023, and it will conclude with a single-elimination tournament to crown a champion at the G League's Winter Showcase in December. During the Showcase Cup, teams are will be separated into four regional pods and play 16 games against one another in each of the respective NBA G League markets. Big East Conference
The Big East Conference is a collegiate athletic conference that competes in NCAA Division I in ten men's sports and twelve women's sports. Headquartered in New York City, the eleven full-member schools are primarily located in Northeast and Midwest metropolitan areas. The conference was officially recognized as a Division I multi-sport conference on August 1, 2013, and since then conference members have won NCAA national championships in men's basketball, women's cross country, field hockey, men's lacrosse, and men's soccer. 2012–13 Oakland Golden Grizzlies Men's Basketball Team
The 2012–13 Oakland Golden Grizzlies men's basketball team represented Oakland University during the 2012–13 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Golden Grizzlies, led by 29th year head coach Greg Kampe, played their home games at the Athletics Center O'rena and were members of The Summit League. They finished the season 16–17, 10–6 in The Summit League to finish in fourth place. They lost in the quarterfinals of The Summit League tournament to Fort Wayne. They were invited to the 2013 CIT where they lost in the first round to Youngstown State. Steal (basketball)
In basketball, a steal occurs when a defensive player legally causes a turnover by their positive, aggressive action(s). This can be done by deflecting and controlling, or by catching the opponent's pass or dribble of an offensive player. The defender must not touch the offensive player's hands or otherwise a foul is called. Steals are credited to the defensive player who first causes the turnover, even if they do not end up with possession of the live ball. To earn a steal, the defensive player must be the initiator of the action causing the turnover, not just the benefactor. Whenever a steal is recorded by a defensive player, an offensive player must be credited as committing a turnover. Horizon League
The Horizon League is an 11-school collegiate athletic conference in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I, whose members are located in and near the Great Lakes region. The Horizon League founded in 1979 as the Midwestern City Conference. The conference changed its name to Midwestern Collegiate Conference in 1985 and then the Horizon League in 2001. The conference started with a membership of six teams and has fluctuated in size with 24 different schools as members at different times. The League currently has 11 members.
