Duivendijke
Duivendijke is a former village in the Dutch province of Zeeland. It was located about 2 km southwest of Brouwershaven on the island of Schouwen-Duiveland. The village had a church, which was demolished before the middle of the 18th century. The first bishop of Leeuwarden, Cunerus Petri, was born in Duivendijke around 1530. Until 1961, Duivendijke was the name of a separate municipality, that also covered the hamlets Klaaskinderenkerke, Brijdorpe and Looperskapelle Looperskapelle is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Zeeland. Klaaskinderenkerke
Klaaskinderenkerke (also spelled 'Klaaskinderkerke') is a former village in the Dutch province of Zeeland. The polder Klaaskinderen was flooded on December 14, 1511, and was never reclaimed again. The church of Klaaskinderenkerke disappeared in this flood, and in the 19th century, only a small hamlet was left. The hamlet has now disappeared from the maps. It was located east of the village of Scharendijke. Cunerus Petri
Cunerus Petri (ca. 1530–1580) was the first bishop of Leeuwarden to take possession of the see.J. De Jong, "Cunerus Petri", in ''Nieuw Nederlandsch Biografisch Woordenboek'', vol. 5 (Leiden, 1921), 122-124. He was nominated in succession to Remi Drieux, who had been unable to do so before being translated to the position of bishop of Bruges. Life Petri was born around 1530 in Duivendijke, near Brouwershaven in the County of Zeeland. He studied Philosophy and Theology at Leuven University, graduating with a doctorate in Theology on 12 November 1560. He was named bishop of Leeuwarden in 1569, and was installed 1570. On 26 February 1570 he published the decrees of the Council of Trent in his diocese, and on 15 April held a diocesan synod. In December 1576 the States of the Lordship of Friesland subscribed to the Pacification of Ghent. On 28 March 1578 Petri was imprisoned by the rebels in Harlingen. Brijdorpe is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Zeeland. Brouwershaven is a small city on the Grevelingen in the Dutch province of Zeeland. It is a part of the municipality of Schouwen-Duiveland, lies about 45 km southwest of Hellevoetsluis and 10 km north of Zierikzee. Brouwershaven received city rights in 1477. Schouwen-Duiveland
Schouwen-Duiveland () is a municipality and an island in the southwestern Netherlands province of Zeeland. The municipality has 33,737 inhabitants (1 January 2016) and covers an area of (of which is water). The northside of the island has two fixed connections to Goeree-Overflakkee, the Brouwersdam and the Grevelingen. The southside has two fixed connections to cross the Oosterschelde to North Beveland, the Stormvloed Kering or Oosterscheldedam, part of the Delta Works and the Zeeland Bridge. The island is mostly flat and is, besides a small area, below the sea level. On the western tip is a dune whose highest point is about 42 meters above sea level. The Roman Catholic Diocese of Leeuwarden was a short-lived (1559-1580) Roman Rite Dutch suffragan diocese in the ecclesiastical province of the Archbishopric of Utrecht.
