Victoria Dubourg
Victoria Dubourg or Victoria Fantin-Latour (1 December 1840 – 30 September 1926) was a French still life painter. Dubourg was born in Paris and trained with artist Fanny Chéron.Victoria Dubourg in the RKD There, she met the painter Henri Fantin-Latour, whom she married in 1876. She collaborated with him on his floral paintings, but also produced works under her own name that she signed "V Dubourg". Dubourg has been critiqued as an artist whose work lacks originality, simply reproducing the styles of her well known husband. However, a careful review of her early work shows that Dubourg began producing still life two years prior to meeting Fantin-Latour. Matthew Dubourg
Matthew Dubourg (1703 – 3 July 1767) was an English violinist, conductor, and composer who spent most of his life in Ireland. Among other achievements, Dubourg led the orchestra at the premiere of Georg Friedrich Handel's great oratorio Messiah (Handel), ''Messiah''. Biography Dubourg was born in London, the illegitimate son of a court dancing master, his mother's identity is unknown. In 1712, at age 9, he performed a Corelli sonata standing on a stool at the home of Thomas Britton. At age 11, in 1714, he furthered his studies under the celebrated Italian violinist, composer and music theorist Francesco Geminiani. He performed a sonata at the Queen's Theatre in March 1714, a benefit concert in May at Hickford's Room, as well as many other performances during the London season.Ford, A. Jacques Barbeu-Dubourg
Jacques Barbeu-Dubourg (12 February 1709 – 14 December 1779) was a French physician, botanist, writer, translator and publisher known for translating Benjamin Franklin's work into French and for inventing a gentlemen's umbrella fitted with a lightning conductor. He designed a method of histographic visualizations which he called the ''Carte chronographique''. Life He first embarked on theological studies, but abandoned this to devote his life to science. He studied medicine in Paris and obtained a doctorate in 1748. He was a keen follower of the work of Benjamin Franklin, and they maintained a regular friendly correspondence. He translated some of Franklin's early experimental work into French in 1762 and published it in ''Gazette d'Epidaure'', his medical journal. He went on to publish his French translation of Franklin's ''Observations and Experiments'' in 1773. Emmanuel Dubourg
Emmanuel Dubourg (born December 26, 1958) is a Canadian politician, chartered accountant and teacher from Quebec. He was the Member of National Assembly of Quebec for the riding of Viau from 2007 until 2013. On November 25, 2013 he was elected to the House of Commons of Canada in a by-election to become the Liberal Member of Parliament for the Montreal riding of Bourassa. Auguste-René-Marie Dubourg
Auguste-René-Marie Dubourg (1 October 1842—22 September 1921) was a French Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as Archbishop of Rennes from 1906 until his death, and was elevated to the cardinalate in 1916. Biography Auguste Dubourg was born in Loguivy-Plougrasto two inn-keepers and studied at the seminary in Saint-Brieuc before being ordained to the priesthood on 22 December 1866. He then taught at the Minor Seminary of Saint-Brieuc, and served as secretary of the episcopal curia, vicar general, and vicar capitular of Saint-Brieuc. On 19 January 1893, Dubourg was appointed Bishop of Moulins by Pope Leo XIII. He received his episcopal consecration on the following 16 April from Bishop Pierre-Marie-Frédéric Fallières, with Bishops François-Marie Trégaro and Etienne-Marie Potron, OFM, serving as co-consecrators, in Saint-Brieuc Cathedral. Bernard Dubourg (20 August 1945 – 20 December 1992) was a French poet, professor of philosophy, translator and Hebrew scholar. Bernard Dubourg published in ''Tel Quel'' and ''PO&SIE''. He wrote several books of poetry, and translated the poetry of J. H. Prynne. He also translated studies of the Samaritans by James Alan Montgomery and Moses Gaster, ''On the superiority of women'' by Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa, and published an annotated translation of the ''Sefer Yetzirah''. His two-volume work on the New Testament argued that the Greek text was originally composed in Hebrew, according to the traditional procedures of midrash. George Dubourg (1799 – 17 April 1882), was an English writer on the violin The violin, sometimes known as a ''fiddle'', is a wooden chordophone (string instrument) in the violin family. Dubourg was the grandson of violinist Matthew Dubourg. In 1836, George Dubourg published ''The Violin, being an Account of that leading Instrument and its most eminent Professors, &c.'', a work that was frequently reprinted. During most of his life, Dubourg contributed articles to newspapers, especially in Brighton, England, where he lived for several years. Louis Fabricius Dubourg or Louis Fabritius du Bourg was an historical and academic painter of arcadian landscapes, and an engraver. Life His parents Jean du Bourg(h) and Elisabeth Burlamacchi married in 1681. ''Louis Fabrice'' was baptized on 5 July 1693 in the Walloon church. He was a pupil of Gerard de Lairesse, Gerrit Rademaker (1672-1711) and Jacob van Huysum. In 1718 he became sexton of a small wooden church on Kerkstraat. Around 1726 he was practising foreshortening and may have been a member of an academy; he produced a lot of nude (art) during his life. When he married Eva de Kaarsgieter in 1729 he cooperated with Bernard Picart. After producing several beautiful pictures, some of which may be seen at the Westerkerk, the New Church and town hall of Amsterdam, he exchanged the brush for the graver, and executed some vignettes and other small compositions, and also etched a number of plates from his own designs. Louis-Guillaume-Valentin Dubourg
Louis William Valentine DuBourg (french: Louis-Guillaume-Valentin DuBourg; 10 January 1766 – 12 December 1833) was a French Catholic prelate and Sulpician missionary to the United States. He built up the church in the vast new Louisiana Territory as the Bishop of Louisiana and the Two Floridas and later became the Bishop of Montauban and finally the Archbishop of Besançon in France. Born in the colony of Saint-Domingue, DuBourg was sent to France at a young age to be educated and entered the Society of Saint Sulpice. As a cleric and son of a noble family, the French Revolution forced him into exile in Spain. In 1794, DuBourg sailed to the United States and began teaching and ministering in Baltimore, and became the president of Georgetown College in 1795. He significantly improved the quality of the institution, but mounted a substantial debt and was ousted by the Jesuit owners of the college in 1798.
