Dubai One
Dubai One (formerly known as Ch33 and then One TV) is a Pan Arab English language entertainment television channel, owned by Dubai Media Incorporated. It was launched on 14 May 1994, and is currently managed by Sarah al Jarman. It airs a mix of locally produced and international syndicated content that caters both Arab and non-Arab viewers in the MENA region. It started broadcasting in HD on Nilesat 201 on 28 February 2019. Background Dubai One broadcasts subtitled Western content targeting Arabs and expatriates living in Dubai and around the Arab world. While most of the production is centralized at DMI's own studios, the channel has its own management, team, structure and strategy. Layne Redman
Layne Redman is a British television presenter, writer and actor. He used to work in Dubai for English-language television channel Dubai One presenting ''Out & About''. Early life and family Redman was born in Isleworth, West London, to Afro-Caribbean parents and has two younger brothers. His mother is a singer who now lives in Jamaica. Dubai 33
Dubai Channel 33 (originally branded as Ch33) was a national television channel transmitting terrestrially out of Dubai in English, targeting the expat community in the U.A.E. It was founded in 1977. Up until the late 1980s, it was a 12-hour channel, switching broadcasts adjacently from one of Emirates Dubai Television's frequencies starting at 2:00 pm, U.A.E. time, with a children's block, and concluding at 2:00 am. The times of the switch often changed usually during Ramadan, which varied each year. It was the only free-to-air English-language channel in Dubai at the time. From the late 1990s, its popularity started dwindling due to availability of alternate channels in English as well as the expat communities native languages via growing use of satellite TV and mainstream cable (E-Vision in 2000). Dareen Abughaida ( ar, دارين أبو غيدا) is a Palestinian-Lebanese broadcast journalist. Currently working as a presenter for Al Jazeera English, she has also worked for big establishments such as Bloomberg news, CNBC, World Bank, and Qatar Airways. Launched in April 2010, World of Sports was a weekly sports show airing on Dubai One and featuring a mixture of local and international sports highlights, studio and telephone interviews with sporting personalities and a variety of sports related features. Series One was hosted by Layne Redman with Tom Urquhart, Mark Pendergast, Noel Miller and Anas Bukhash appearing as regular studio guests.
