Dubai Majesty (foaled March 19, 2005) is a retired Eclipse Award, Champion Glossary of North American horse racing#Racemare, racemare best known for winning the 2010 Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint and being the only two-time winner of the Winning Colors Stakes. Background Dubai Majesty is a dark bay nearly black mare sired by Essence of Dubai, whose sire was Pulpit (horse), Pulpit. Pulpit (horse)
Pulpit (February 15, 1994 – December 6, 2012) was an American Thoroughbred racehorse who won the Fountain of Youth Stakes and Blue Grass Stakes and came fourth in the 1997 Kentucky Derby. Injured after that race, he retired to stud at Claiborne Farm near Paris, Kentucky where he became a successful sire. His descendants include leading sire in North America Tapit and multiple Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing (United States), American Classic winners such as Tonalist and California Chrome. Background Pulpit was bred in Kentucky by Claiborne Farm, who purchased his fifth dam, Knight's Daughter, in 1951. Knight's Daughter produced Hall of Fame inductee Round Table (horse), Round Table for Claiborne in 1954 and his full sister Monarchy in 1957. Azalea Stakes
The Azalea Stakes is a race for Thoroughbred horses once run at Calder Race Course in Miami Gardens, Florida on the Summit of Speed Day each year. Since 2015, the Azalea is now run at Gulfstream Park due to racing negotiations between the two Florida racetracks. Churchill Downs is a horse racing complex located on Central Avenue in south Louisville, Kentucky, United States, famed for hosting the annual Kentucky Derby. Graded Stakes Race
A graded stakes race is a thoroughbred horse race in the United States that meets the criteria of the American Graded Stakes Committee of the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association (TOBA). A specific grade level (I, II, III or listed) is then assigned to the race, based on statistical analysis of the quality of the field in previous years, provided the race meets the minimum purse criteria for the grade in question. In Canada, a similar grading system is maintained by the Jockey Club of Canada. Graded stakes races are similar to Group races in Europe but the grading is more dynamic in North America. The grading system was designed in 1973 and first published in 1974. The Indiana Oaks is a Grade III American Thoroughbred horse race for three-year-old fillies run over a distance of miles on the dirt held annually in July at Horseshoe Indianapolis in Shelbyville, Indiana. History The Indiana Oaks was inaugurated on 16 September 1995 at Hoosier Park and run over a distance of 1 mile. The event was won by the short odds-on Niner's Home who withstood the fast closing Alltheway Bertie to win by a neck in a time 1:37 flat on a fast track.
