List Of Non-marine Molluscs Of Venezuela
The non-marine molluscs of Venezuela are a part of the molluscan fauna of Venezuela (which is part of the wildlife of Venezuela). Non-marine molluscs are the snails, clams and mussels that live in freshwater habitats, and the snails and slugs that live on land. Sea-dwelling molluscs are not included in this list. A number of species of non-marine molluscs are found in the wild in Venezuela. Historical background Studies on the knowledge of the Venezuelan malacofauna begin in the nineteenth century with the work of German malacologist Eduard von Martens around 1873 who published the first list of the mollusks Venezuela. Three years later the German-Venezuelan Adolfo Ernst, taking as its starting point and extending Martens list, published a second list in 1876. Subsequent to these two pioneering nineteenth century works, only sporadic descriptions were published in foreign publications. It took about half a century for new listings of malacofauna of Venezuela to be published, th ...

List Of Non-marine Molluscs Of Colombia
The non-marine molluscs of Colombia are a part of the molluscan fauna of Colombia. There are 559 species of non-marine molluscs living in the wild in Colombia.Linares E. L. & Vera M. L. (2012). ''Cátalogo de los moluscos continentales de Colombia''. Universidad Nacional, Bogotá, 350 pp. There are a total of ??? species of gastropods, which breaks down to ?? species of freshwater gastropods, and ??? species of land gastropods in 82 genera, plus ?? species of bivalves living in the wild. There are 20 non-indigenous species of gastropods (? freshwater and 20 land species: 13 snails and 7 slugs) and ? species of bivalves in the wild in Colombia. This is a total of ? freshwater non-indigenous species of wild molluscs. The non-marine mollusc fauna of Colombia is not fully surveyed yet. There are still 6 departments of Colombia, especially in the southwest, from which there are no records of land gastropods yet (as of 2008). ;Summary table of number of species Freshwater gastropo ...

Orthalicoidea
The Orthalicoidea are a superfamily of air-breathing land snails, terrestrial gastropod mollusks in the infraorder Orthalicoidei of the suborder HelicinaMolluscaBase eds. (2021). MolluscaBase. Simpulopsidae Schileyko, 1999. Accessed through: World Register of Marine Species at: http://www.marinespecies.org/aphia.php?p=taxdetails&id=870047 on 2021-02-05 Distribution The Orthalicoidea is a dominant faunal element in the Neotropics, but also has a number of genera with a Gondwanan distribution. Taxonomy 2005 taxonomy This taxonomy, as accepted by Bouchet & Rocroi, was based on the study by Nordsieck, published in 1986, and the classification as formulated by Schileyko in 1999. However Bouchet & Rocroi diverged from this classification in uniting the families Bulimulidae and Orthalacidae. They also considered the family Placostylidae as a distinct family from Orthalicidae, and the family Coelociontidae a distinct family from Urocoptidae. However, the position of the families M ...

Pulmonate
Pulmonata or pulmonates, is an informal group (previously an order, and before that a subclass) of snails and slugs characterized by the ability to breathe air, by virtue of having a pallial lung instead of a gill, or gills. The group includes many land and freshwater families, and several marine families. The taxon Pulmonata as traditionally defined was found to be polyphyletic in a molecular study per Jörger ''et al.'', dating from 2010. Pulmonata are known from the Carboniferous Period to the present. Pulmonates have a single atrium and kidney, and a concentrated, symmetrical, nervous system. The mantle cavity is located on the right side of the body, and lacks gills, instead being converted into a vascularised lung. Most species have a shell, but no operculum, although the group does also include several shell-less slugs. Pulmonates are hermaphroditic, and some groups possess love darts. Linnean taxonomy The taxonomy of this group according to the taxonomy of the Ga ...
