Drum (EP)
''Drum'' is the first official release by Local H, released in 1991. It was only available as a vinyl 7". It is the only material made for commercial release to include more than two official members of Local H, as it includes Matt Garcia on bass. The only other official release with more than two members was '' The '92 Demos'', although it was not originally made for commercial release. It includes the same line-up as this EP. Local H
Local H is an American rock band originally formed by guitarist and vocalist Scott Lucas, bassist Matt Garcia, drummer Joe Daniels, and lead guitarist John Sparkman in Zion, Illinois in 1990. The members all met in high school in 1987 and founded Local H three years later. They are known for their unorthodox two-piece setup. After Sparkman's departure in 1991 and Garcia's departure in 1993, Local H signed a record contract with Island Records in 1994 as a duo, where they would go on to release three albums. They became best known for their radio hit "Bound for the Floor", a single from the 1996 album '' As Good as Dead'' which peaked at No. 5 on the US Alternative ''Billboard'' Chart. The album ''As Good As Dead'' was also certified gold. Daniels was replaced by Brian St. Clair in 1999, and the group released four albums and four EPs with St. Clair on drums. Grunge
Grunge (sometimes referred to as the Seattle sound) is an alternative rock genre and subculture that emerged during the in the American Pacific Northwest state of Washington, particularly in Seattle and nearby towns. Grunge fuses elements of punk rock and heavy metal, but without punk's structure and speed. The genre featured the distorted electric guitar sound used in both genres, although some bands performed with more emphasis on one or the other. Like these genres, grunge typically uses electric guitar, bass guitar, drums and vocals. Grunge also incorporates influences from indie rock bands such as Sonic Youth. Lyrics are typically angst-filled and introspective, often addressing themes such as social alienation, self-doubt, abuse, neglect, betrayal, social and emotional isolation, addiction, psychological trauma and a desire for freedom. ''Ham Fisted'' is the debut studio album by the alternative rock band Local H. It was released through Island Records in January 1995. Though the tracks "Cynic" and "Mayonnaise and Malaise" were released as airplay singles in 1994, the album failed to chart. Gramophone Record
A phonograph record (also known as a gramophone record, especially in British English), or simply a record, is an analog sound storage medium in the form of a flat disc with an inscribed, modulated spiral groove. The groove usually starts near the periphery and ends near the center of the disc. At first, the discs were commonly made from shellac, with earlier records having a fine abrasive filler mixed in. The bass guitar, electric bass or simply bass (), is the lowest-pitched member of the string family. Scott Lucas (musician)
David Scott Lucas (born May 10, 1970) is an American musician, who is best known for being the guitarist, bassist, and lead vocalist for Local H, as well as the lead vocalist and guitarist of Scott Lucas and the Married Men. Lucas co-founded Local H in Zion, Illinois, in 1987 with high school friends, bassist Matthew "Matt" Garcia and drummer Joe Daniels, along with lead guitarist John Sparkman. Sparkman left the band in 1991, and Garcia left in 1993, and Lucas added bass pickups to his guitar to compensate; Daniels left the band in July 1999 and was replaced by Brian St. Clair, leaving Lucas as the only remaining original band member. Local H has released several albums, including a covers record in 2010. Lucas is also a member of the electronic band, The Prairie Cartel, and has released three albums through his solo project, Scott Lucas and the Married Men, which he founded in 2010. Joe Daniels (drummer)
Joseph William Daniels (born August 4, 1970) is an American rock drummer best known as the original drummer for Local H, from 1987 until July 1999. Career Daniels and his friends Scott Lucas and Matthew "Matt" Garcia started jamming in 1987, while attending high school in Zion, Illinois. They eventually formed Local H in 1990. When Garcia left the band in 1993, he was not replaced, and the band continued as a duo. To complete the band's sound, Lucas had a high school friend modify his guitar by adding a bass pickup. In 1999, Daniels decided to depart Local H. His last show with the band was at Chicago's The Metro on June 24, 1999. Daniels then joined the band Stendec in 1999, lasting until they disbanded in 2001. From 2001 to 2004 Daniels was a founding member of The Black Panels. From 2005 to 2007 Daniels worked with the band Bruiser, recording an album with them. Daniels married in 2006 and had a son the following year.
