Dru Brown (filmmaker)
Dru Brown is an Australian filmmaker. He produced and directed ''The Suicide Theory'' (2014). He was born in Canberra and is of Indigenous Australians, Aboriginal descent from Ngiyampaa people. Films ''The Suicide Theory'', in which he served as producer and director, won the Grand Jury Prize at the L.A film festival, Dances With Films in 2014. Becoming the first international film to do so in the 17 year history of the festival. It also played opening night at the 2014 Austin Film Festival, winning the Dark Matters Audience Award. It had a 10 city U.S theatrical release in 2015 and was named #5 in ''The Guardians: 10 Best Aussie Films of 2015. The Suicide Theory
''The Suicide Theory'' is a 2014 Australian thriller film directed by Dru Brown and written by Michael J. Kospiah. It stars Steve Mouzakis as a hit man and Leon Cain as the suicidal man who hires him. It premiered on 4 June 2014 at the Dances With Films film festival in Los Angeles, California. Freestyle Releasing released it in the US and Canada on 10 July 2015. Plot As Steven discusses his wife's pregnancy with a friend who owns a store, a rude man interrupts them. Steven ambushes the man outside and murders him. Shortly afterward, his wife Annie is killed in a hit-and-run accident as they cross the street together. Ngiyampaa
The Ngiyampaa, also known as the Ngemba, are an Aboriginal Australian people of the state of New South Wales. The generic name refers to an aggregation of three groups, the Ngiyampaa, the Ngiyampaa Wangaaypuwan, and the Ngiyampaa Weilwan, respectively clans of a larger Ngiyampaa nation. Language Their language consisted of varieties of Ngiyampaa, which was composed of two dialects, Ngiyambaa Wangaaybuwan and Wayilwan Ngiyambaa. Dances With Films is an annual independent film festival located in Los Angeles, California and was founded by Leslee Scallon and Michael Trent. Austin Film Festival (AFF), founded in 1994, is an organization in Austin, Texas, that focuses on writers’ creative contributions to film. Initially, AFF was called the Austin Heart of Film Screenwriters Conference and functioned to launch the careers of screenwriters, who historically have been underrepresented within the film industry. AFF is known for its annual October Austin Film Festival & Conference. The Conference was the first event of its kind, bringing professional and amateur screenwriters together to celebrate the role of screenplays in filmmaking and host conversations focusing on craft and on particular films and television series.
