Droste Prize
Droste-Preis is a literary prize awarded in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. The city of Meersburg awards the Droste Prize in memory of the writer Annette von Droste-Hülshoff, who spent the last years of her life in Meersburg. It is awarded every three years. The award is endowed with €6,000 (First Prize (): €4,000). The award is only given to women. Baden-Württemberg (; ), commonly shortened to BW or BaWü, is a German state () in Southwest Germany, east of the Rhine, which forms the southern part of Germany's western border with France. Helen Meier
Helen Meier (17 April 1929 – 13 February 2021) was a Swiss writer. Biography Meier attended a in Rorschach and subsequently became a primary schoolteacher. After working in England, France, and Italy, she attended the University of Fribourg, subsequently working for the Swiss Red Cross and as a special education teacher in Heiden. She was discovered at the Festival of German-Language Literature, where she received a prize for her story, ''Lichtempfindlich''. Helen Meier died in Trogen on 13 February 2021 at the age of 91. The ''Salzburger Nachrichten'' is a German language daily newspaper published in Salzburg, Austria. It has been in circulation since 1945. History and profile ''Salzburger Nachrichten'' was established in 1945 by the American forces occupying Austria following World War II. The first issue appeared on 25 October that year. Teresa Präauer (born 28 February 1979 in Linz, Oberösterreich) is an Austrian writer and visual artist. Life Teresa Präauer was born in Linz and grew up in Graz and St. Johann im Pongau District. From 1997 to 2003 she studied German studies at the University of Salzburg and the Humboldt University of Berlin as well as painting at the Mozarteum Salzburg. From 2003 she lived and worked in Vienna, where she studied as a postgraduate at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna from 2004 to 2005. Judith Schalansky (born 20 September 1980) is a German writer, book designer and publisher. Work Her book '' Atlas of Remote Islands'' won first prize in the Stiftung Buchkunst's The Most Beautiful German Books competition (German: Die schönsten deutschen Bücher) in 2009. Ulrike Almut Sandig
Ulrike Almut Sandig (born 1979) is a German writer. She was born in Großenhain in the former GDR, and has lived in Riesa, Leipzig and Berlin. She studied religion and indology at university, and then studied at the German Institute for Literature in Leipzig. She started her writing career by distributing her poems in public places in Leipzig. She has published three volumes of poetry: ''Zunder'' (2005/2009), ''Streumen'' (2007), and ''Dickicht'' (2011). Her first book of short stories titled ''Flamingos'' came out in 2010. She has also written for the radio, and published audiobooks. Silke Scheuermann (born 15 June 1973, in Karlsruhe) is a German poet and novelist. She was educated in Frankfurt, Leipzig, and Paris. Marlene Streeruwitz
Marlene Streeruwitz (born 28 June 1950) is an Austrian playwright, novelist, poet, and short story writer. Biography Born in Baden bei Wien in 1950, Streeruwitz was raised in a well-to-do family. Her father was a politician and later became mayor. She studied law and Slavic languages at Vienna University but interrupted her studies to get married and raise a family. Her divorce triggered her interest in writing, although she did not think of publishing anything for the next 14 years. She gained fame first as the author of the radio play ''Kaiserklamm.Und.Kirchenwirt'' (1989) and even more so when ''Waikiki-Beach'' and ''Sloane Square'' proved extremely successful when staged in Cologne.
