Driven (Rush Song)
"Driven" is a song by Canadian rock band Rush from their 1996 album ''Test for Echo''. It was the third of five singles released from the album and reached No. 3 on the US Mainstream Rock chart. Lead singer and bassist Geddy Lee said about the song:'Driven' is just from a bass player’s point of view. I wrote that song with three tracks of bass. I brought it to Alex and said, 'Here’s the song; I did three tracks of bass, but I just did that to fill in for the guitar', and he said, 'Let’s keep it with the three basses.' Rush (band)
Rush was a Canadian rock band formed in 1968 in Toronto, that was comprised primarily of Geddy Lee (bass, vocals), Alex Lifeson (guitar), and Neil Peart (drums, percussion, lyricist). The band formed in Toronto in 1968 by Lifeson, drummer John Rutsey, and bass guitarist/vocalist Jeff Jones, who was immediately replaced by Lee. After Lee joined, the band went through several lineup configurations before arriving at its classic power trio lineup with the addition of Peart in July 1974, who replaced Rutsey four months after the release of their 1974 self-titled debut album; this lineup remained intact for the remainder of the band's career. ''Rush in Rio'' is a three-disc live album by Canadian band Rush, released on October 21, 2003. The album is also available as a two DVD set. With the exception of the last two tracks on the third disc, the album was recorded at Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro on the final night of the Vapor Trails Tour. The other two tracks were taken from previous shows on the same tour. "Between Sun & Moon" was recorded at the Cricket Wireless Pavilion, Phoenix, Arizona, on September 27, 2002, and "Vital Signs" was recorded at the Colisée Pepsi, Quebec City, Quebec, on October 19, 2002. The DVD has been certified 7× Platinum by the R.I.A.A. in the US with over 700,000 copies sold as of September 2010. ''Different Stages'' is a live album by Canadian rock band Rush, released in 1998. The bulk of the first and second discs were recorded at the World Music Theatre in Tinley Park, Illinois during the 1997 ''Test for Echo'' tour. Five other songs from various stops along the tour were included and three songs from the 1994 ''Counterparts'' tour. The third disc is taken from a performance at the Hammersmith Odeon in London during the ''A Farewell to Kings'' tour in 1978. The album was compiled and released by lead singer and bassist Geddy Lee and producer Paul Northfield in the wake of the deaths of drummer Neil Peart's daughter and first wife in 1997 and 1998, respectively. Production of the album occurred during Peart's recovery from his loss as chronicled in his book '' Ghost Rider: Travels on the Healing Road'', and he was consequently not involved in the production of the album. ''Test for Echo'' is the sixteenth studio album by the Canadian rock band Rush, released on 10 September 1996 on Anthem Records. It is the final Rush work before the death of Neil Peart's daughter and wife that put the band on hiatus until the recording of ''Vapor Trails'' in January 2001. It is also the final Rush album co-produced by Peter Collins. The title track reached No. 1 on the mainstream rock chart. The song " Driven" became a bass showcase for Geddy Lee during live performances, while "Resist" was rearranged as an acoustic song on the ''Vapor Trails'' and '' R30'' tours. The band did not perform any tracks from the album on subsequent tours. ''Test for Echo'' was remastered and reissued twice: in 2004 as a continuation of "The Rush Remasters" set and in 2013 as a part of the box set ''The Studio Albums 1989–2007''.
