Dries Holten
Dries (Andres) Holten (30 January 1936 in Cimahi, West Java, Indonesia – 15 April 2020) was a Dutch singer, songwriter of Indo descent. He represented the Netherlands at the 1972 Eurovision Song Contest alongside Sandra Reemer. After he and Reemer broke up, Holten formed a new group with Rosy Pereira and called it Rosy & Andres. In 1980, Holten's final group was of him and Ria Shield Meyer. Career Sandra and Andres In 1972 at Eurovision, along with fellow Dutch-Indonesian singer Sandra Reemer he represented the Netherlands with their song " Als het om de liefde gaat", the meaning in English is when love is concerned. He co-wrote the song with Hans van Hemert. Rosy and Andres In 1975, now having teamed up with another Indonesian singer, Rosy Pereira the daughter of steel guitarist Coy Pereira, they released the single " Sausilito". Cimahi
Cimahi () is a landlocked city located immediately west of the larger city of Bandung, in West Java Province, Indonesia and within the Bandung Metropolitan Area. It covers an area of 40.37 km2 and had a population at the 2010 Census of 541,177 and at the 2020 Census of 568,400; the official estimate as at mid 2021 was 571,632. The city is a major textile producer, and is home to several military training centres. Geography Cimahi, located 180 km south east of Jakarta, is situated between Bandung and West Bandung Regency. My Love was a top ten hit for Netherlands-based pop duo Rosy & Andres in 1976. The song The October 9, 1976 issue of '' Billboard'' reported that "My Love" reached position no 3 in the Dutch chart, just behind "In Zaire" by Johnny Wakelin and with " Dancing Queen" by ABBA at no 1. "Dancing Queen" is a Europop and disco song by the Swedish group ABBA, released as the lead single from their fourth studio album, ''Arrival'' (1976). It was written by Benny Andersson, Björn Ulvaeus and Stig Anderson. Andersson and Ulvaeus also produced the song. "Dancing Queen" was released as a single in Sweden on 15 August 1976, followed by a UK release and the rest of Europe a few days later. It was a worldwide hit. It became ABBA's only number one hit in the United States, and topped the charts in Australia, Canada, Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium, Czechoslovakia, Ireland, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom, West Germany and the Soviet Union. Johnny Wakelin
Johnny Wakelin (born 1939) is an English recording artist best known for songs like "Black Superman" and "In Zaire", both celebrating boxer Muhammad Ali. Career Wakelin had his first outings in clubs in his hometown but without big success. Discovered by Pye record producer Robin Blanchflower, the man who launched Carl Douglas to the top of the UK Singles Chart with "Kung Fu Fighting", and working with Steve Elson and Keith Rossiter in addition to Blanchflower, Wakelin set about writing songs that would, he hoped, "catch people's eye" "Black Superman (Muhammad Ali)" In late 1972, Wakelin wrote and recorded the original version of the song, under the title "Hungarian Superman (Joe Bugner)" as an homage to the Hungarian-born British-Australian boxer by that name.
