Drew Denson
Andrew Denson (November 16, 1965 – February 13, 2014) was an American Major League Baseball first baseman. He played during two seasons at the major league level for the Atlanta Braves and Chicago White Sox. He was drafted by the Braves in the 1st round (19th pick) of the 1984 amateur draft. Denson played his first professional season with their Rookie League Gulf Coast Braves in , and his last with the Baltimore Orioles' Triple-A affiliate, the Rochester Red Wings, in . Denson died on February 13, 2014, at the age of 48. Cause of death was not listed. A first baseman, abbreviated 1B, is the player on a baseball or softball team who fields the area nearest first base, the first of four bases a baserunner must touch in succession to score a run. The first baseman is responsible for the majority of plays made at that base. In the numbering system used to record defensive plays, the first baseman is assigned the number 3. Also called first sacker or cornerman, the first baseman is ideally a tall player who throws left-handed and possesses good flexibility and quick reflexes.
