Dress Parade
''Dress Parade'' is a 1927 American silent romantic drama film produced by William Sistrom and Cecil B. DeMille and distributed by Pathé. The film stars William Boyd and Bessie Love, and was directed by Donald Crisp. Although it is based on a story by Major Robert Glassburn, Major Alexander Chilton, and Herbert David Walter, the plot is essentially the same as ''West Point'', produced at MGM in 1928. ''Dress Parade'' is preserved at the Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive and the UCLA Film and Television Archive, and has been released on home video by Grapevine Video. Production For authenticity, many scenes were filmed at West Point. Actress Bessie Love was so impressed by her time on location that she penned an unpublished novel based on her experiences, ''Military Mary''. Donald Crisp
Donald William Crisp (27 July 188225 May 1974) was an English film actor as well as an early producer, director and screenwriter. His career lasted from the early silent film era into the 1960s. He won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in 1942 for his performance in ''How Green Was My Valley''. Early life Donald Crisp was born George William Crisp in Bow, London, in a family home on 27 July 1882. He was the youngest of ten children (four boys and six girls) born to Elizabeth (née Christy) and James Crisp, a labourer. He was educated locally and in 1901 was living with his parents and working as a driver of a horse-drawn vehicle. Crisp made a number of claims about his early life that were eventually proven false decades after his death. He claimed that he was born in 1880 in Aberfeldy in Perthshire, Scotland, and even went so far as to maintain a Scottish accent throughout his life in Hollywood. Maurice Lloyd Ryan (7 June 1943 – 12 August 2011) was a New Zealand cricketer who played first-class cricket for Canterbury and Central Districts from 1965 to 1979. Lutz Wahl (November 2, 1869 – December 30, 1928) was a major general in the United States Army who served as Adjutant General of the U.S. Army from 1927 to 1928. Biography Lutz Wahl was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on November 2, 1869. He graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1891. He served with the 5th Infantry in Louisiana and Georgia, and was then assigned as Professor of Military Science at Louisiana State University. During the Spanish–American War he served with the 21st Infantry, and was later assigned to mobilize and train volunteer units from Mississippi. After an assignment with the 15th Infantry in Plattsburgh, New York, Wahl served in the Philippines from 1899 to 1901. Assigned there during the Philippine–American War, Wahl saw action at Guadeloupe Ridge and other battles.
