Dreamworld Cinema
The Dreamworld Cinema is a movie theatre located inside the Dreamworld (Australia), Dreamworld amusement park on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. History IMAX Theatre The ''IMAX Theatre'' was a movie theatre which opened with Dreamworld on 15 December 1981 that showed IMAX List of IMAX films, films. The theatre showcased one film, several times throughout a normal operating day. The park rotated the films in which they display. Films included Australia: Land Beyond Time, India: Kingdom of the Tiger, Space Station 3D, Space Station, Super Speedway and To Fly!, To Fly (the opening day film). Dreamworld Cinema In preparation for Dreamworld's 30th Birthday celebrations, the park closed the IMAX Theatre on 22 November 2010. Main Street (Dreamworld)
Main Street is a themed land at the Dreamworld amusement park on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. The area acts as the main hub for the park catering as a gateway to many other lands including Gold Rush Country, DreamWorks Experience and Ocean Parade. History In 1974, John Longhurst purchased of land at Coomera in order to construct the Dreamworld theme park. Although a lot of the initial work was done by himself, Longhurst spared no expense when he employed designers from Disneyland (in Anaheim, California) and Walt Disney World (in Florida) to design Main Street. Many of the buildings in Dreamworld can be compared to those in the Disney parks. The main entrance at Dreamworld is modelled after the Main Street train station at the Magic Kingdom. 3-D Film
3D films are motion pictures made to give an illusion of three-dimensional solidity, usually with the help of special glasses worn by viewers. They have existed in some form since 1915, but had been largely relegated to a niche in the motion picture industry because of the costly hardware and processes required to produce and display a 3D film, and the lack of a standardized format for all segments of the entertainment business. ''Rio'' is a 2011 American 3D computer-animated musical adventure comedy film produced by Blue Sky Studios and 20th Century Fox Animation, and directed by Carlos Saldanha. The title refers to the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro, where the film is set. ''Destiny in Space'' is a 70mm Canadian-American IMAX documentary film released in 1994. The film was written by Toni Myers, directed by Academy Award-winner Ben Burtt, and narrated by Leonard Nimoy. The film is a showcase of the daily lives of astronauts in space, particularly on the STS-42 Space Shuttle ''Discovery Spacelab mission, as they fix instruments and take measurements. The film includes two Space Shuttle launches and several cargo bay scenes, including an astronaut repairing the Hubble Space Telescope. CGI recreations of the surface of Venus and Mars based on satellite data from JPL are also featured.
