Dragonlance (comics)
''Dragonlance'' was a comic book produced by DC Comics under license from TSR. It featured new characters and stories in the world of Krynn, with appearances by some of the original characters from the Dragonlance books. The stories take place prior to the events of ''Dragons of Autumn Twilight''. Publication history From 1988 - 1991, DC Comics published several licensed ''D&D'' comics, including ''Advanced Dungeons & Dragons'', ''Dragonlance'', '' Forgotten Realms'', and '' Spelljammer''. ''Dragonlance'' was first to be licensed and published with its first issue hitting the stands in August 1988. Dan Mishkin was the primary writer for the ''Dragonlance'' (1988-1991) comic. Mishkin wrote issues #1-20, 22–25, and 28 (1988–1991), and Jack C. Harris also worked on issue #28 (1991). Ongoing Series
In comics, an ongoing series is a series that runs indefinitely. This is in contrast to limited series (a series intended to end after a certain number of issues thus limited), a one shot (a comic book which is not a part of an ongoing series), a graphic novel, or a trade paperback. However, a series of graphic novels may be considered ongoing as well. The term may also informally refer to a current or incomplete limited series with a predetermined number of issues. Characteristics An ongoing series is traditionally published on a fixed schedule, typically monthly or bimonthly but many factors can cause an issue to be published late. In the past, the schedule was often maintained with the use of fill-in issues (usually by a different creative team, sometimes hurting quality), but increasingly the practice has been to simply delay publication. Tony DeZuniga
Antony de Zuñiga (November 8, 1932 – May 11, 2012) who worked primarily under the name Tony DeZuniga, was a Filipino comics artist and illustrator best known for his works for DC Comics. He co-created the fictional characters Jonah Hex and Black Orchid. DeZuniga was the first Filipino comic book artist whose work was accepted by American publishers, paving the way for many other Filipino artists to enter the international comic book industry. Biography Early life and career DeZuniga was born in Manila, Philippines, and began his comics career at the age of 16, as a letterer for ''Liwayway'', a Filipino weekly magazine whose contributors included comic book artists Alfredo Alcala and Nestor Redondo, who would later become his mentors. Tanis Half-Elven
Tanis Half-Elven is a fictional half-elven character in the Dragonlance series of books, which were published by TSR, and are now published by Wizards of the Coast. He is first introduced in the book '' Dragons of Autumn Twilight'' by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman, in Chapter 1: "Old Friends Meet. A Rude Interruption." They introduce him saying that he was half-elven, armed with a longbow and a sword and wearing leather armor. Character conception As with the other protagonists of this trilogy, Tanis's first appearance was during a role-playing game session in which Tracy and Laura Hickman, Margaret Weis and Terry Phillips between others, set up the basic storyline of ''Dragonlance''. In the beginning, Margaret Weis had problems picturing the correct representation of Tanis. Tracy Hickman finally told her, "He's James T. Kirk of the Starship ''Enterprise''." Kitiara Uth Matar
Kitiara Uth Matar is a fictional character appearing in the Dragonlance campaign setting created by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman. She is the daughter of a disgraced Solamnic Knight named Gregor Uth Matar and his first wife, Rosamun. She is also the half-sister of both Raistlin and Caramon Majere. Character development The novel '' Darkness and Light'' details "the travels of Kitiara and Sturm before the meeting at the Inn of the Last Home at the beginning of Dragonlance Chronicles. Sturm sets off to find news of his father; Kit comes along for the adventure. Along the way, they stumble upon a flying vessel piloted by 12 gnomes who offer them a ride to Solamnia, but the group ends up on Lunitari during a war. Raistlin Majere
Raistlin Majere is a fictional character from the ''Dragonlance'' series of books created by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman. Raistlin played an extensive role in the two main series of books, particularly in ''Dragonlance Legends'' in which he was both primary protagonist and antagonist. He is twin brother to Caramon Majere, half-brother to his protective sister Kitiara uth Matar, and a significant member of the Heroes of the Lance. Sturm Brightblade is a fictional character from the ''Dragonlance'' series of role playing games and novels, based on the Advanced Dungeons & Dragons franchise. The character was created by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman and is published by Wizards of the Coast. The knight Sturm Brightblade is one of the six Heroes of the Lance. Kim Yale (November 22, 1953 – March 7, 1997) was an American writer and editor of comic books for several publishers including DC Comics, Eclipse Comics, First Comics, Marvel Comics, and WaRP Graphics. Biography Yale was born in Evanston, Illinois, to the Reverend Richard A. Yale and Theresa Yale. Her father was a Navy chaplain which meant that for many years she and her family moved to various locations in the United States and elsewhere before resettling in Evanston during her teen years. She earned a B.A. in English from Knox College.
