Dragan Mustapić
Dragan Mustapić (born 23 March 1963) is a male discus thrower from Croatia. His personal best throw was 64.40 metres, achieved in July 2000 in Ljubljana. He also had 18.35 metres in the shot put, achieved in July 2005 in Zagreb. Mustapić was born in Imotski. He was a five-time Yugoslav discus throw champion (1987–1991) and was the first Yugoslav discus thrower to surpass 60 meters. He finished seventh at the 2001 Mediterranean Games. He also competed at the 1995 World Championships, the 1998 European Championships, as well as the Olympic Games in 1992, 1996, 2000 and 2004 without reaching the final. The discus throw (), also known as disc throw, is a track and field event in which an athlete throws a heavy disk (mathematics), disc—called a discus—in an attempt to mark a farther distance than their competitors. It is an classical antiquity, ancient sport, as demonstrated by the fifth-century-BC Myron statue ''Discobolus''. The 5th World Championships in Athletics, under the auspices of the International Association of Athletics Federations, were held at the Ullevi Stadium, Gothenburg, Sweden on 5–13 August 1995. The final of the men's discus throw event at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain was held on August 5, 1992. There were 32 participating athletes from 24 nations. The maximum number of athletes per nation had been set at 3 since the 1930 Olympic Congress. The top 12 and ties, and all those reaching 63.00 metres advanced to the final. The event was won by Romas Ubartas of Lithuania, a victory for the nation in its debut appearance in the men's discus throw. Jürgen Schult took silver, the first medal for unified Germany. Roberto Moya earned Cuba's first men's discus throw medal since 1980 with his bronze.
