Dragan Jovanović (actor)
Dragan Jovanović ( sr-cyr, Драган Јовановић; born 4 October 1965) is a Serbian actor. Career Dragan graduated from the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade in 1990. Since 1990, he has been a permanent member of the Yugoslav Drama Theatre in Belgrade, where he has appeared in a number of performances, including ''Baal'' as Teddy, ''Calling Bird'' as the Devil and ''Theatre of Illusions'' as Adrast. With some of his colleagues he founded the theatre group The Kuguars and as a collective performed ''Let's play'', ''The funny side of history'', and ''The funny side of music.'' At Budva City Theatre he played Trinculo in '' The Tempest''. At Zvezdara theatre he played Fran in ''John's Life'', and Alex in ''The Flames of Passion''. In Madlenianum he directed the play ''Don Quixote is a Spanish epic novel by Miguel de Cervantes. The Optimists (film)
''The Optimists'' ( sr-cyr, Оптимисти) is a 2006 Serbian black comedy film directed by Goran Paskaljević. The film, presented as five unrelated narrative sequences, was inspired by Voltaire's 1759 satirical novel, ''Candide''. ''The Optimists'' features an ensamble cast of Serbian actors with Lazar Ristovski appearing in all five storylines. The film premiered at the 2006 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and was subsequently screened at several other film festivals, earning multiple awards. The 51st Valladolid International Film Festival named Ristovski Best Actor, and the film won the Youth Jury Award and the Golden Spike award as the best film of the festival. Although it was filmed during a decade of war and hardship in the former Yugoslavia, the film was overall praised for its wholesomeness, as it does not contain any swearing, nudity, or talk of politics. ''Cabaret Balkan'' is a 1998 Serbian film directed by Goran Paskaljević starring Miki Manojlović and Nebojša Glogovac. Its original Serbian language title is ''Буре барута'' (''Bure baruta'') which means ''Powder Keg''. It was released in English speaking countries under the title of ''Cabaret Balkan'', with the official reason for the name change being that Kevin Costner had already registered a film project under the title ''Powder Keg''. The film received a number of distinctions, including a FIPRESCI award at the Venice Film Festival in 1998. It was based on a play by the same title by Dejan Dukovski.
