''Draba corrugata'' is a species of flowering plant in the family Brassicaceae known by the common name Southern California draba. It is native to the eastern Transverse Ranges of southern California, and the Peninsular Ranges of Southern California and Baja California. It grows in rocky areas. ''Draba corrugata'' is a biennial or perennial herb forming a cushiony basal clump of leaves. Each leaf is long and gray-green in a coat of coarse hairs. The erect inflorescence may bear over 100 mustardlike flowers with yellow petals each under in length. Sereno Watson (December 1, 1826 in East Windsor Hill, Connecticut – March 9, 1892 in Cambridge, Massachusetts) was an American botanist. Graduating from Yale in 1847 in Biology, he drifted through various occupations until, in California, he joined the Clarence King Expedition and eventually became its expedition botanist. Appointed by Asa Gray as assistant in the Gray Herbarium of Harvard University in 1873, he later became its curator, a position he maintained until his death. Watson was elected a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 1874, and a member of the National Academy of Sciences in 1889. An inflorescence is a group or cluster of flowers arranged on a stem that is composed of a main branch or a complicated arrangement of branches. Morphologically, it is the modified part of the shoot of seed plants where flowers are formed on the axis of a plant.
