Dr. Phillips
Philip Phillips (January 27, 1874 – April 18, 1959) was a prominent businessman who was particularly active in the Central Florida area. Education Phillips earned a medical degree from Columbia University in New York. Career A citrus magnate, at one point he owned more than of citrus groves before selling his industry assets in 1953. After that, he established the Dr. P. Phillips Foundation, while Dr. Phillips Inc. remained in the real estate business, particularly as run by his son, Howard Phillips. Howard Phillips (March 27, 1902 – 1979) was a prominent businessman who was particularly active in Central Florida. He worked in the citrus operations of his father, Dr. Philip Phillips, and took over his philanthropic organization after his father's death in 1959. Central Florida is a region of the U.S. state of Florida. Different sources give different definitions for the region, but as its name implies it is usually said to comprise the central part of the state, including the Tampa Bay area and the Greater Orlando area, though in recent times the Tampa Bay area has often been described as its own region, with "Central Florida" becoming more synonymous with the Orlando area (most notably, this is what the local news channels in each respective metro area call their region). Dr. Phillips is a census-designated place and an unincorporated area in Orange County, Florida, United States. It is a suburb of Orlando and is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Sanford, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 12,328 at the 2020 census. The area of Dr. Phillips is named after Philip Phillips, a Central Florida citrus magnate. He was responsible for several key innovations in the processing and packaging of orange juice.
