"Downtown Train" is a song by Tom Waits released on his album ''Rain Dogs'' in 1985. The promo video for the song was directed by Jean-Baptiste Mondino and features boxer Jake LaMotta. Rod Stewart version British singer Rod Stewart recorded a cover version that became a number-three hit on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart after being released as a single in late 1989, and was also a number-one single on the album rock and adult contemporary charts. Thomas Alan Waits (born December 7, 1949) is an American musician, composer, songwriter, and actor. Robert Wolfe Quine (December 30, 1942 – May 31, 2004) was an American guitarist. A native of Akron, Ohio, Quine worked with a wide range of musicians, though he himself remained relatively unknown.
