Down Syndrome Bill
The Down Syndrome Act 2022 is an Act of Parliament introduced as a private member's bill and sponsored by Conservative MP Liam Fox. It was described as "world leading" by MP Ian Paisley Jr and is intended to make legal provisions for people living with Down syndrome. It was introduced by Baroness Hollins in the House of Lords. Background In the United Kingdom, it is estimated that there are 40,000 people living with the condition. The bill recognises people with Downs syndrome as a specific minority group, and ensures their specific social care needs are met. It is the first such legislation in the world. Mark Logan (politician)
Mark Rory Logan (born 28 January 1984) is a British Conservative Party politician. He has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bolton North East since the 2019 general election. Early life Logan was born and grew up in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. He graduated from Queen's University Belfast, and then earned two master's degrees, one from the London School of Economics and the second from Wadham College, University of Oxford. Before becoming an MP, he worked in the Foreign Office at the British Consulate-General Shanghai where he was responsible for media and communications. A reading of a bill is a stage of debate on the bill held by a general body of a legislature. In the Westminster system, developed in the United Kingdom, there are generally three readings of a bill as it passes through the stages of becoming, or failing to become, legislation. Elliot Haydn George Colburn (born 6 August 1992) is a British Conservative Party politician. He has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Carshalton and Wallington since the 2019 general election. Felicia Jane "Flick" Beatrix Drummond (born 16 June 1962) is a British Conservative Party politician.
