Down For The Count (album)
''Down for the Count'' is the seventh studio album by the American heavy metal band Y&T, released in 1985 by A&M Records. The album marks the band's change to a lighter sound to find success in the hair metal scene. It contains the band's biggest hit "Summertime Girls", which charted at #55 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100. This song had initially appeared as the only studio track on the band's live album, '' Open Fire'', released earlier in the year. The album itself peaked at #91 on the Billboard 200 on December 14, 1985. It was the last album with the original line-up of Meniketti, Alves, Kennemore and Haze, as Haze left the following year. Reception The ''AllMusic'' reviewer Eduardo Rivadavia gave the album two stars out of five, and criticized the band for " oiningthe perm-haired masses then issuing like dandruff out of the California dust to redefine the meaning of the word "dumb"". Dave Meniketti
David Alan Meniketti (born December 12, 1953) is the singer, songwriter and lead guitarist for hard rock/ heavy metal band Y&T. He has also released three solo efforts (including "Live in Japan"), one of which is more blues-oriented. He currently tours worldwide with Y&T. With the death of guitarist Joey Alves in March 2017, Meniketti is the last surviving member of the band's classic lineup (1974–1986), which also included bassist Phil Kennemore (d. 2011) and drummer Leonard Haze (d. 2016). Y&T (originally known as Yesterday & Today) is an American hard rock/ heavy metal band formed in 1972Archived aGhostarchiveand thWayback Machine in Oakland, California, with the line up that would record the first album cementing in 1974. The band released two studio albums on London Records as Yesterday & Today in the 1970s, before shortening their name to Y&T and releasing several albums on A&M Records beginning in 1981, plus albums on Geffen Records, Avex Records, and others. Mark Weiss is an American rock music photographer. His most widely recognized photographs capture the look and aesthetic of music and celebrity personalities of the 1980s. Jeff Gold (born 1956) is an American music business executive, author, music historian, Grammy Award winning art director, and music memorabilia collector and dealer. Music Business Gold was the first employee of Rhino Records, and in 1975 produced the label's first release, "Go To Rhino Records" by Wild Man Fischer. Claude Schnell (born May 17, 1955) is an American keyboardist who has been a member of the bands Magic, Rough Cutt, Dio, and Last in Line.
