Zabian Dowdell (born September 10, 1984) is an American professional basketball player for Rasta Vechta of the German Basketball Bundesliga. Born in Pahokee, Florida, he played basketball for his hometown's high school. He played college basketball for the Virginia Tech Hokies from 2003 to 2007. In his senior season he was named in the First-team All- ACC and the ACC All-Defensive team. Following his graduation from college, Dowdell played professionally mainly in Europe, also having brief stints in the NBA and the NBA D-League. Early life Dowdell attended Pahokee High School, where he played high school basketball and was first team all-state as a junior and senior. In 2003, he was named The Palm Beach Post 6A-3A Player of the Year, Palm Beach Post Small School Player of the Year, and Florida Dairy Farmers 3A Player of the Year. Jeff Dowdell
Jeffrey Dowdell (born 13 March 1987) is an Australian professional basketball player. Born in Cooma, New South Wales, he is a product of the Shoalhaven Tigers basketball program which has produced several NBL, WNBL, and NCAA players including his brother Ben who spent 2007–2011 attending Santa Clara University and playing for the Santa Clara Broncos. Professional career In 2005, Dowdell played his rookie NBL season with the Perth Wildcats at the age of 18, the same year he was named as NSW Junior Player of the Year. In his second NBL season with the Wildcats, he was named the club's Most Improved Player. He established himself as a regular part of the Wildcats rotation. After the 2006–07 NBL season, Dowdell played for the Wanneroo Wolves in the State Basketball League, where he averaged 27.5ppg. Robert Dowdell (March 10, 1932 – January 23, 2018) was an American actor, best known for his role as Lieutenant Commander Chip Morton in the television series ''Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea''. Biography Dowdell was born in Park Ridge, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, and later graduated Parker High School. He attended Wesleyan University and the University of Chicago, before enlisting in the United States Army Corps of Engineers. After discharging from the service, Dowdell took an interest in acting. It was suggested that he take lessons with Wynn Handman. He was cast in a play written by Leslie Stevens, who went on to create the Western television series '' Stoney Burke'' and encouraged him to audition.
