Dove Bar
Dove Bar is an American ice cream bar, created by Leo Stefanos at Dove Candies & Ice Cream on 60th Street and Pulaski Avenue in Chicago in 1956 and introduced nationally in 1984. The brand, including Dove chocolate as well as the ice cream, was bought by Mars Inc. in 1986, and the Dove Bar today is made by Mars. The bars are most commonly vanilla ice cream coated in milk or dark chocolate, but many other varieties are available, including chocolate ice cream, fruit sorbet, and coatings with nuts. The ice cream bars are sold either individually or in three-packs. Dove ice cream is also sold in pints and "Minis". The pints have a layer of chocolate ganache on the top, containing an impression of the Dove logo. U.S. production takes place in Burr Ridge, Illinois. An ice cream bar is a frozen dessert on a stick or a candy bar that has ice cream in it. The coating is usually a thin layer of chocolate used to prevent the melting and dripping of ice cream. Leo Stefanos
Leo Stefanos was the owner of ''Dove Candies & Ice Cream'' in Chicago and the inventor of the Dove chocolate bar. Born in Greece, Stefanos settled on Chicago's South Side to raise a family. According to Dove Chocolate company lore, he was frightened when his young son, Michael, raced recklessly down the street in pursuit of the neighborhood ice cream truck and decided to make his own ice cream bar in hope of keeping Michael and his brother and sister, Chris and Amy, closer to home. Michael took over his father's business in 1977. Vanilla is a spice derived from orchids of the genus ''Vanilla (genus), Vanilla'', primarily obtained from pods of the Mexican species, flat-leaved vanilla (''Vanilla planifolia, V. planifolia''). Pollination is required to make the plants produce the fruit from which the vanilla spice is obtained. Chocolate
Chocolate is a food made from roasted and ground cacao seed kernels that is available as a liquid, solid, or paste, either on its own or as a flavoring agent in other foods. Cacao has been consumed in some form since at least the Olmec civilization (19th-11th century BCE), and the majority of Mesoamerican people ─ including the Maya and Aztecs ─ made chocolate beverages. Ganache
Ganache (; ) is a glaze, icing, sauce, or filling for pastries, made from chocolate and cream. Preparation Ganache is a chocolate preparation, normally made by heating equal parts by weight of cream and chopped chocolate, warming the cream first, then pouring it over the chocolate. The mixture is then typically left to rest for a short period (between 3 and 10 minutes generally, dependent on volume) before it is stirred or blended until smooth, with liqueurs or extracts added if desired. The resting period allows the hot cream to increase the temperature of the bowl and its contents. If one were to blend immediately this would introduce air reducing the temperature and preventing the chocolate from melting consistently.
