Douglas Thor
''Douglas'' Verner Thor (born 11 December 1997) is a Swedish politician of the Moderate Party. He has been national chairman of the Moderate Youth League since 2022. Life and career Thor was born on 11 December 1997 in Nävelsjö (outside Vetlanda) in Jönköping County, Sweden. Thor was district chairman of the Moderate Youth League in Jönköping County from 2018 to 2021 and national chairman of the Moderate Students from 2021 to 2022. He was member of the municipal council in Vetlanda Municipality from October 2018 to May 2020, when he resigned to begin studies at Uppsala University. During the youth leagues congress in November 2022, Thor challenged incumbent Matilda Ekeblad as chairman of the Moderate Youth League and won with the votes 52–49. Vetlanda
Vetlanda () is a locality and the seat of Vetlanda Municipality, Jönköping County, Sweden with 13,050 inhabitants in 2010. History Vetlanda was still nothing more than a village for several centuries. With the 1840s population boom in Småland, and the industrial revolution winning ground in Sweden, the industry expanded and people settled in the village. With the railways crossing Vetlanda in the late 19th century the population further blossomed, and Vetlanda got the title of a city on New Year's Day 1920, at which time its population amounted to 3,015. The coat of arms was selected as an ear of wheat, a derivation of the arms for the old jurisdiction Östra Härad ( sv), wherein ''Vitala'' was rumoured to have been the centre, that depicted three ears of wheat. Jönköping County ( sv, Jönköpings län) is a county or '' län'' in southern Sweden. It borders the counties of Halland, Västra Götaland, Östergötland, Kalmar and Kronoberg. Moderate Youth League
The Moderate Youth League ( sv, Moderata ungdomsförbundet ; MUF), officially known in English as the Swedish Young Conservatives, is the youth wing of the Swedish Moderate Party. Of the political youth organizations that received financial support from the Swedish National Board for Youth Affairs in 2009, it had the highest number of members. The Moderate Youth League is more libertarian-leaning and more radical than the mother party. It is generally pro-market, pro-American, pro-Israeli and liberal in social issues such as abortion, gay rights and supports legalization of illegal file sharing and alcohol manufacturing for private, nonprofit purposes. The Moderate Party ( sv, Moderata samlingspartiet , ; M), commonly referred to as the Moderates ( ), is a liberal-conservative political party in Sweden. The party generally supports tax cuts, the free market, civil liberties and economic liberalism. Vetlanda Municipality
Vetlanda Municipality (''Vetlanda kommun'') is a municipality in Jönköping County, southern Sweden. The town of Vetlanda is the municipality's seat. The municipality was created in 1971 when the ''City of Vetlanda'' (instituted in 1920) was amalgamated with the surrounding rural municipalities to form a unitary municipality. In 1863, when the first local government acts in Sweden came into force, there were more than 20 entities within the area of the present municipality.
