Dougie Bell
Douglas Keith Bell (born 5 September 1959) is a Scottish former professional footballer. Playing career Bell played for Cumbernauld Colts, St Mirren (two spells), Aberdeen, Rangers, Hibernian, Shrewsbury Town, Hull City, Birmingham City, Portadown (two spells), Partick Thistle, Clyde, Elgin City, Alloa Athletic, Albion Rovers and Linlithgow Rose. He played twice for Scotland at under-21 level. During his time with Aberdeen, Bell won the Scottish League three times and the Scottish Cup twice, as well as the European Super Cup in 1983 (missing other trophy wins earlier that year due to injury). In those days, only those on the team-sheet for the final received a medal, but, in April 2023, Bell, manager Sir Alex Ferguson, and four others were retrospectively given winners' medals for the victory in the European Cup Winners' Cup. The Scotland national under-21 football team, controlled by the Scottish Football Association, is Scotland's national under 21 football team and is considered to be a feeder team for the Scotland national football team. Colin Hendry
Edward Colin James Hendry (born 7 December 1965) is a Scottish football coach and former professional footballer. Hendry, who played as a defender notably played in the Premier League for Blackburn Rovers where he was part of the title winning side of 1995. He also played top flight football in both England and Scotland for Dundee, Manchester City, Rangers and Bolton Wanderers as well as stints in the Football League with Coventry City and Blackpool. He earned 51 caps for Scotland, scoring three times and was part of the Tartan Army's Euro 96 and World Cup 98 squads. Following on from retirement, Hendry took over as Blackpool manager and later had a spell in charge of Clyde. The 1983 European Cup Winners' Cup Final was a football match contested between Aberdeen of Scotland and Real Madrid of Spain. It was the final match of the 1982–83 European Cup Winners' Cup tournament and the 23rd European Cup Winners' Cup final, a football tournament contested by the winners of each qualifying nation's national cup. Aberdeen played one more round than Real Madrid as they were required to play in a preliminary round prior to the first round proper. Sir Alexander Chapman Ferguson (born 31 December 1941) is a Scottish former football manager and player, best known for managing Manchester United from 1986 to 2013. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest football managers of all time and has won more trophies than any other manager in the history of football. Ferguson is often credited for valuing youth during his time with Manchester United, particularly in the 1990s with the " Class of '92", who contributed to making the club one of the richest and most successful in the world. The 1983 UEFA Super Cup was a two-legged match contested between the European Cup winners Hamburger SV, and the European Cup Winners' Cup champions Aberdeen. The match was 0–0 in the first leg at the Volksparkstadion in Hamburg. In the second leg at Pittodrie Stadium, Aberdeen added their second European trophy with a 2–0 victory over the West Germans with goals coming from Mark McGhee and Neil Simpson. The Scottish Football League Premier Division was, from 1975 until 1998, the top division of the Scottish Football League and the entire Scottish football league system.
