Dougherty is an unincorporated community in Dawson County, in the U.S. state of Georgia. History A post office called Dougherty was established in 1881, and remained in operation until 1955. A variant name was "Savannah". Dawson County is a county located in the north-central portion of the U.S. state of Georgia. As of the 2020 census, the population was 26,798 up from 22,330 in 2010. The county seat is Dawsonville. Dawson County is included in the Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Roswell, Georgia Metropolitan Statistical Area.
