DJ Dougal
Paul Arnold Clarke (born 1975 in Northampton), and better known as DJ Dougal, is a British UK hardcore and happy hardcore artist and DJ. He first became involved with the dance music scene at the age of 15, while setting up sound systems for some of the first acid house parties, as part of work experience assignment to a music shop. Through this, he met Murray Beetson (of ''ESP Promotions'' and promoter of the Dreamscape raves) and became a resident at raves including Equinox Milwaukees, Dreamscape and Helter Skelter. His style is a mix of euphoric hardcore with uplifting vocals. He has worked alongside many other hardcore artists including DNA, Gammer and Hixxy, though in recent years, most of his work has been with Gammer. Several years ago, he – along with Hixxy – created the successful label ''Essential Platinum'', which has had many releases. Jim Dougal
James Dougal (19 March 1945 – 15 October 2010) was a Northern Irish journalist, writer and broadcaster who had worked, from 1969 until shortly before his death for RTÉ, UTV and the BBC. He was said to have maintained a long friendship with Ian Paisley. He created a production company, Dougal Media, for which he made profiles of Paisley and Margaret Thatcher. His greatest passion, though, was his family. He is survived by his wife, Deirdre, daughters Tara, Emma and Tina, a stepdaughter, Nicola, and a son, James. Journalism An alumnus of St Mary's Christian Brothers' Grammar School, Belfast and a former civil servant, Dougal's career as a journalist began at BBC Northern Ireland as a general reporter. Jimmy Dougal
James Dougal (3 October 1913 – 17 October 1999) was a Scottish footballer who played as an inside forward for Kilsyth Rangers, Falkirk, Preston North End, Carlisle United, Halifax Town and Chorley, either side of World War II. He featured on the losing side (playing at outside right) in the 1937 FA Cup Final with Preston – where there was a large contingent of Scottish players in the period – but did not take part the following year when the ''Lilywhites'' claimed the trophy due to injury. He was the club's top goalscorer in the 1938–39 season, and won the Football League War Cup in 1941. He represented Scotland once, scoring his side's goal in a 2–1 defeat to England in April 1939. Margaret Douie Dougal ( – 1938, née Robertson, later Chaplin) was a British chemical publication indexer for fifteen years (1885–1909) for the Chemical Society. Dougal contributed to the compilation of volumes i-iii of ''A Collective Index of the Transactions, Proceedings and Abstracts of the Chemical Society''. The then president of the Chemical society, Sir James Dewar, congratulated Dougal for her work as "an example of thoroughness and accuracy to her successors." The collected decennial indices were also prepared by Dougal; at the 1906 Annual Meeting of the Chemical Society it was noted that the Council "had pleasure in expressing the high appreciation of the ceaseless energy displayed by the indexer, Mrs. Margaret Dougal, on the completion of this valuable work." Samuel Herbert Dougal
Samuel Herbert Dougal (15 May 1847 – 14 July 1903), a notorious womanising convicted forger, was a soldier who used his medal-winning administrative skills to ill effect. He married three times, and the first two wives died in suspicious circumstances. Dougal spent little time before replacing them in other relationships where he sired numerous illegitimate children in addition to his legitimate progeny. Dougal's downfall came soon after a servant of his sought an affiliation order for the child she had borne him. The scrutiny from the court process revealed that the woman he had been living with was not in fact married to him. Indeed, she had not been seen by her own relatives for four years despite her funds and share holdings having been cashed in over the same period. The discovery of this woman's murdered corpse on their property precipitated the murder trial that ended in Dougal's conviction as a murderer and his hanging for his crime soon after. ''The Magic Roundabout'' is an English-language children's television programme that ran from 1965 to 1977. It used the footage of the French stop motion animation show ''Le Manège enchanté'' but with completely different scripts and characters. The French series, created by Serge Danot with the help of Ivor Wood and Wood's French wife, Josiane, was broadcast from 1964 to 1974 on ORTF (Office de Radiodiffusion Télévision Française). The BBC originally rejected translating the series because it was "charming... but difficult to dub into English", but later produced a version of the series using the French footage with new English-language scripts unrelated to the original storylines. Father Dougal McGuire
Father Dougal McGuire is a character in the Channel 4 sitcom ''Father Ted''. Created by Arthur Mathews and Graham Linehan, Dougal was portrayed by comedian Ardal O'Hanlon for the programme's three series. The character is a childlike, simple-minded Roman Catholic curate exiled to Craggy Island, a small island off the coast of Galway. Dougal originated as an unseen character in a short-lived stand-up routine performed by Mathews in the late 1980s.
