Doug Seegers
Douglas Seegers (born c. 1952 in Long Island, New York, United States) is an American country music artist, guitarist and songwriter. Life and work Seegers graduated from West Islip High School and started playing music in New York and Austin, Texas, before moving to upstate New York, where he married and raised two children. Eventually, he went alone to Nashville, where he played on the streets and became a regular at The Little Pantry That Could, a West Nashville charity that holds regular songwriter nights. He lived as a homeless struggling musician. On 17 December 2012, Aaron Espe, an American singer-songwriter and record producer based in Nashville, uploaded a live 1 minute 11 second rendition of Seegers singing " Going Down to the River" on his own ''YouTube'' account. Espe entitled his upload "Who Is Doug Seegers?". The video did not pick up much reaction. Allsång På Skansen
''Allsång på Skansen'' (''Sing-along at Skansen'') is a Swedish show held at Skansen, Stockholm, every summer on Tuesdays between 8pm and 9pm. The audience is encouraged to sing along with musical guest stars to well-known Swedish and international songs. The show started in 1935 on a small scale; about 50 people in the audience. Today, about 10,000–25,500 people come to each performance. Since 3 August 1979 the show has been broadcast by Sveriges Television. Initially the show had about 300,000 viewers. When Lasse Berghagen took over as host, the ratings increased to about 2 million viewers. In 2003, ''Allsång på Skansen'' was the first SVT programme that was broadcast with 5.1 multichannel sound. In 2007, it became one of the first Swedish live programmes broadcast in high-definition television. The 50-position chart lists the most popular country music albums in the country, calculated weekly by Broadcast Data Systems based on physical sales along with digital sales and streaming. Buddy Miller
Steven Paul "Buddy" Miller (born September 6, 1952) is an American singer, songwriter, musician, recording artist and producer, currently living in Nashville, Tennessee. Miller is married to and has recorded with singer-songwriter Julie Miller. Early life and music career Buddy was born in Fairborn, Ohio, near Dayton, and his family ended up settling in Princeton, New Jersey. His grandfather gave him the nickname "Buddy." During the late 1970s he was in a country-rock band called the Desperate Men, which played in the NNJ and New York area, including clubs like Stanhope House, Cuss From Hoe and others. In 1975, he moved to Austin, Texas and played rockabilly music in Ray Campi's band. He auditioned for and played in a band with Julie Griffin (soon to be his second wife). Ingram Cecil Connor III (November 5, 1946 – September 19, 1973) who was known professionally as Gram Parsons, was an American singer, songwriter, guitarist, and pianist who recorded as a solo artist and with the International Submarine Band, the Byrds, and the Flying Burrito Brothers, popularizing what he called "Cosmic American Music", a hybrid of country, rhythm and blues, Soul music, soul, Folk music, folk, and Rock music, rock. ''Going Down to the River'' is a debut album by American country music singer, songwriter and guitarist Doug Seegers. Seegers, a struggling street artist in Nashville, Tennessee, basically lived as a homeless musician, when he became known to the Swedish public. He sang the album's title song when appearing on a Swedish TV show hosted by Jill Johnson and called '' Jills veranda'' March 5, 2014. ''Jills veranda'' was a 6-episode SVT TV series recorded in Nashville, where Johnson and six altering Swedish artists were exploring the city. Johnson and one of her guest musicians Magnus Carlson loved Doug Seegers singing performance so much that they returned some time later and offered to record the song with him.
