Doug Hamilton (soccer)
Doug Hamilton (March 6, 1963 – March 9, 2006) was president and general manager of the Los Angeles Galaxy. He was previously the general manager of Miami Fusion F.C. Hamilton died from a heart attack aboard an airplane while traveling from San José, Costa Rica to Los Angeles, California. Hamilton was raised in Hazlet, New Jersey, and attended St. Benedict School, and then later, Raritan High School, both in Hazlet, New Jersey. He attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and played for the men's soccer team that won two NCAA Division III championships. Douglas Turnbull Hamilton (born August 19, 1958) is a Canadian Olympic medallist rower. Hamilton was born in 1958 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He won a bronze medal in the men's quadruple sculls event at the 1984 Summer Olympics. He won a gold medal at the 1985 World Rowing Championships in men's quadruple sculls, and bronze medals in the same event at the 1986 World Rowing Championships and 1987 World Rowing Championships He also competed at the 1988 Summer Olympics. Douglas Gibson Hamilton (born 15 August 1941) is an Australian chess player who holds the titles of FIDE Master and International Correspondence Chess Master (2001). He is a three-time Australian Chess Championship winner (1965, 1967, 1982). Biography In the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, Hamilton was one of the strongest chess players in Australia. He regularly participated in the Australian Chess Championship and won this tournament three times: in 1965, 1967, and 1982. In 1966, in Auckland, Hamilton played in the World Chess Championship South East Asian Zonal tournament and shared 5th–6th place. He tied for first in the Ballarat Begonia Open in 1969, 1981 and 1994. Douglas Jonathan Hamilton Jr. (born June 17, 1993) is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman for the New Jersey Devils of the National Hockey League (NHL). He previously played in the NHL for the Boston Bruins, Calgary Flames, and Carolina Hurricanes. The Bruins selected him in the first round, ninth overall, of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. Early life Hamilton was born on June 17, 1993, in Toronto, Ontario. Both of his parents participated in the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles: his father Doug was a rower in the men's quadruple sculls, while his mother Lynn was a point guard for the Canadian women's basketball team.
