Doug Bing (footballer)
Douglas Bing (27 October 1928 – 5 February 2013) was an English footballer who played as a wing-half in the Football League for West Ham United. He signed for West Ham United on 1 January 1951 after being recommended by Margate player-manager Almer Hall, who had played for the east London club before joining Margate. Bing made his debut for West Ham on 1 September 1951, against Hull City. Broadstairs
Broadstairs is a coastal town on the Isle of Thanet in the Thanet district of east Kent, England, about east of London. It is part of the civil parish of Broadstairs and St Peter's, which includes St Peter's, and had a population in 2011 of about 25,000. Situated between Margate and Ramsgate, Broadstairs is one of Thanet's seaside resorts, known as the "jewel in Thanet's crown". The town's coat of arms's Latin motto is ''Stella Maris'' (" Star of the Sea"). The name derives from a former flight of steps in the chalk cliff, which led from the sands up to the 11th-century shrine of St Mary on the cliff's summit. Hartsdown Park
Hartsdown Park is a football stadium located in Margate, Kent, England. It has been the home of Margate F.C. (known as Thanet United F.C. between 1981 and 1989) since 1929, apart from between 2002 and 2005, when the club was forced to share the grounds of other Kent clubs while protracted redevelopment work occurred. Although the football club was able to return to the stadium in 2005, redevelopment work is still at a very early stage, and many of the ground's facilities are still of a temporary nature. Nonetheless, the club has extensive plans for the future development of the site. History The stadium has been the home of Margate F.C. since 1929, the same year the park itself opened to the public. Margate
Margate is a seaside resort, seaside town on the north coast of Kent in south-east England. The town is estimated to be 1.5 miles long, north-east of Canterbury and includes Cliftonville, Garlinge, Palm Bay, UK, Palm Bay and Westbrook, Kent, Westbrook. Almer Hall
Almeric George Hall (12 November 1912 - 7 November 1994) was an English footballer and manager. Born in Hove, Hall, a striker, began his professional career in 1930 with his local club Brighton & Hove Albion. Before making any appearances for the Sussex club he moved to Tottenham Hotspur. He scored twice on his Spurs debut, in a 2-1 victory over Grimsby Town at White Hart Lane on Boxing Day 1934 in the First Division. He later played for Southend United, Bradford City, where his one appearance was later expunged from the records after the outbreak of the Second World War. After the war he played for West Ham United where he made 50 Football League appearances, having previously appeared as a guest player for West Ham during the war, before moving to non-league Margate in 1950 as player-manager. The English Football League (EFL) is a league of professional football clubs from England and Wales. Founded in 1888 as the Football League, the league is the oldest such competition in the world.
