Doublecheck Your Head
''Doublecheck Your Head'' is a mashup album of songs from the 1992 album ''Check Your Head'' by the Beastie Boys that was mixed and produced by New York producer Max Tannone. The album was released to download on September 1, 2009. Production The concept behind the album ''Doublecheck Your Head'' was to mash the Beastie Boys' with themselves, where songs off the album ''Check Your Head'' have both instrumentals and rap songs. This is reflected in the remix album title, ''Doublecheck Your Head'', which is the mash-up of just that. Some of the tracks have undergone comprehensive re-arrangement, while others were mashed fairly straightforwardly. The first six songs on the album are mashups; the last is a remix of a song off the then upcoming album '' Hot Sauce Committee, Pt. 1''. It was released to download for free from the official website on September 1, 2009, and an unofficial vinyl album has been subsequently released. According to Tannone, ''Doublecheck Your Head'' was release ...

So What'cha Want
"So What'cha Want" is the second single from the album ''Check Your Head'', the third studio album by American rap rock group the Beastie Boys. Released on June 2, 1992, the song samples "Just Rhymin' With Biz", by Big Daddy Kane featuring Biz Markie, and "I've Been Watching You" by Southside Movement. The song also appears in the video game '' Rock Band 2''. Music video The music video, directed by Nathanial Hörnblowér, simply has the Beastie Boys recite the song in a woodland, addressing the viewer by looking down at the camera which is at ground level, with clips of DJ Hurricane and Money Mark interspersed throughout. It was one of the first music videos to feature slow motion action while the artists' lips remained in sync with the sound track, an effect that would later become a mainstay of music videos. The sky has a photo negative effect which was created by visualist Ash Beck, a direct allusion to the werewolf point-of-view in 1981 horror film '' Wolfen''. Similarly, ...

9 (nine) is the natural number following and preceding . Evolution of the Arabic digit In the beginning, various Indians wrote a digit 9 similar in shape to the modern closing question mark without the bottom dot. The Kshatrapa, Andhra and Gupta started curving the bottom vertical line coming up with a -look-alike. The Nagari continued the bottom stroke to make a circle and enclose the 3-look-alike, in much the same way that the sign @ encircles a lowercase ''a''. As time went on, the enclosing circle became bigger and its line continued beyond the circle downwards, as the 3-look-alike became smaller. Soon, all that was left of the 3-look-alike was a squiggle. The Arabs simply connected that squiggle to the downward stroke at the middle and subsequent European change was purely cosmetic. While the shape of the glyph for the digit 9 has an ascender in most modern typefaces, in typefaces with text figures the character usually has a descender, as, for example, in . The mod ...

Jimmy James (song)
"Jimmy James" is the first song and third single from American rap rock band the Beastie Boys' third album ''Check Your Head''. The song has been described as a tribute to Jimi Hendrix by Beastie Boys member MCA, and contains samples from several Hendrix songs including "Foxy Lady", "Happy Birthday", and "Still Raining, Still Dreaming". The song also samples the drum beat from "I'm Chief Kamanawanalea (We're the Royal Macadamia Nuts)" by The Turtles, as well as a line from Mantronix's 1985 single, "Fresh Is the Word" ("...for all the Blacks, Puerto Ricans, and the White People too"). Song information "Jimmy James" originally started out as an instrumental track with scratching done by Yauch (this version of the song appears on the "Jimmy James" EP as the "original original version"). Later on, lyrics were written and the other two Beastie Boys, Mike "Mike D" Diamond and Adam "King Adrock" Horovitz, asked to lend their vocals to the song along with Yauch. However, Hendrix's f ...

Pass The Mic
"Pass the Mic" is the first single from the third studio album ''Check Your Head'' by American rap group the Beastie Boys, released on April 7, 1992. Sampling lawsuit In 2003, Beastie Boys were involved in the landmark sampling (music), sampling decision, ''Newton v. Diamond''. In that case, a federal judge ruled that the band was not liable for sampling James Newton's "Choir" in their track, "Pass the Mic". The sample used is the six-second flute stab. In short, Beastie Boys cleared the sample but obtained only the rights to use the sound recording and not the composition rights to the song "Choir". In the decision, the judge found that: Track listing # "Pass the Mic" (LP version) – 4:30 # "Dub the Mic" (Instrumental) – 4:26 # "Drunken Praying Mantis Style" – 2:37 # "Pass the Mic (Pt. 2, Skills to Pay the Bills)" – 4:24 # "Netty's Girl" – 5:39 Samples * "Choir" by James Newton, from ''Axum (album), Axum'' * "Big Take Over" by Bad Brains, from ''Bad Brains (album), B ...

Déjà Vu
''Déjà vu'' ( , ; "already seen") is a French loanword for the phenomenon of feeling as though one has lived through the present situation before.Schnider, Armin. (2008). ''The Confabulating Mind: How the Brain Creates Reality''. Oxford University Press. pp. 167–168. Blom, Jan Dirk. (2010). ''A Dictionary of Hallucinations''. Springer. pp. 132-134. It is an illusion of memory whereby — despite a strong sense of recollection — the time, place, and context of the "previous" experience are uncertain or impossible. Approximately two-thirds of surveyed populations report experiencing déjà vu at least one time in their lives. The phenomenon manifests occasionally as a symptom of pre-seizure auras, and some researchers have associated chronic/frequent "pathological" déjà vu with neurological or psychiatric illness. Experiencing déjà vu has been correlated with higher socioeconomic status, better educational attainment, and lower ages. People who travel often, frequently ...
