''Double Trouble'' is an album by American country music artists George Jones and Johnny Paycheck released in 1980 on the Epic Records label. The album consists of covers of rock and roll hits from the 1950s and 1960s, with the exception of the opening track, " When You're Ugly Like Us (You Just Naturally Got to Be Cool)", an original song. ''Double Trouble'' is Jones and Paycheck's only duet album. Background Paycheck had played bass for Jones as part of the Jones Boys in the 1960s. The production, by Billy Sherrill, has Sherrill's trademark "countrypolitan" sound and includes a female chorus on some songs. Reception Although the album stalled on the ''Billboard'' charts at number 45, the Chuck Berry song "Maybellene" peaked at number 7 on the country singles chart. George Jones
George Glenn Jones (September 12, 1931 – April 26, 2013) was an American country musician, singer, and songwriter. He achieved international fame for his long list of hit records, including his best-known song "He Stopped Loving Her Today", as well as his distinctive voice and phrasing. For the last two decades of his life, Jones was frequently referred to as the greatest living country singer. "You Better Move On" is a 1961 rhythm and blues song by Arthur Alexander. It reached number 24 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 in March 1962. Versions by Billy "Crash" Craddock, George Jones and Johnny Paycheck were hits on the Country charts. Arthur Alexander version The lyrics were inspired by Alexander's real life situation, in which his girlfriend and future wife already had a boyfriend. Alexander said of the situation "When I met her out of high school he was still hanging in there. His family was pretty well off. I didn't have no money but I knew she liked me. Dorothy LaBostrie (May 28, 1928 – November 4, 2007), later Dorothy LaBostrie Black, was an American songwriter, best known for co-writing Little Richard's 1955 hit "Tutti Frutti". "Kansas City" is a rhythm and blues song written by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller in 1952. Albert James "Alan" Freed (December 15, 1921 – January 20, 1965) was an American disc jockey. He also produced and promoted large traveling concerts with various acts, helping to spread the importance of rock and roll music throughout North America. Jesse Albert Stone (November 16, 1901 – April 1, 1999) was an American rhythm and blues musician and songwriter whose influence spanned a wide range of genres.
