Double Dragon Publishing is a Canadian-based publisher specializing in e-book format publication. Founded by Dee Douglas in 2000, the company claims the largest collection of titles in the science fiction and fantasy categories currently in print, with annual sales of over 45,000 units. History The firm was founded as a single-imprint small press publisher in 2000 by Dee Douglas. The publishing house has since grown into a stable publisher with eight separate imprints, focusing on different genres, but generally within the science-fiction, fantasy, horror, and paranormal romance subgenres. While specializing in eBook publication, the firm also releases paperback books, graphic novels, and pocket books. An audiobook (or a talking book) is a recording of a book or other work being read out loud. A reading of the complete text is described as "unabridged", while readings of shorter versions are abridgements. Spoken audio has been available in schools and public libraries and to a lesser extent in music shops since the 1930s. Many spoken word albums were made prior to the age of cassettes, compact discs, and downloadable audio, often of poetry and plays rather than books. It was not until the 1980s that the medium began to attract book retailers, and then book retailers started displaying audiobooks on bookshelves rather than in separate displays. The Franklin eBookMan is a discontinued handheld device made to read ebooks. This gadget, made from 1999 until 2002, has standard PDA functions and can play and record sounds. It has a black on green touchscreen, contains 8 or 16 MB of RAM, and uses its own proprietary operating system. Its handwriting recognition system accepts nearly natural handwriting. Three models of eBookman were produced: the 900 (8 Mb memory - no backlight), the 901 (8 Mb memory - backlight) and the 911 (16 Mb memory - backlight). All come with an MMC (not SD-compatible for the 8Mb model, but properly compatible with the 16Mb models.) slot which allows for memory expansion. David Conway (author)
David Conway (born 1963) is an Irish author and former musician. He was the original vocalist of the alternative rock band My Bloody Valentine, which he formed in 1983 with guitarist Kevin Shields and drummer Colm Ó Cíosóig. In 1987, during their minor underground success, Conway left the band and was replaced by Bilinda Butcher. Since 1991, Conway has written four novels, including 2009's ''Tokyo Gothic'' and 2010's ''Celebrity Bedlam'', published numerous short stories and contributed his writing to a selection of comic books.
