is a Japanese anime director and voice actor. He is best known for his over-the-top adaptation of Rikdo Koshi's ''Excel Saga'', in which he appears as the character Nabeshin. Watanabe stated that the nickname Nabeshin (a name blending of "nabe" in Watanabe and "shin" in Shinichi) came to him from God. is Japanese painter, color designer, producer, and the current president of Shaft. Career Kubota began his career in the anime industry as a cel painter for the 1981 film ''Furiten-kun'' as a sub-contractor with painting studio Shaft, which had been founded in 1975 by Hiroshi Wakao.
