Kinsey, Alabama
Kinsey is a town in Houston County, Alabama, United States. It was initially located and incorporated in Henry County in February 1893. In 1903, it was redrawn into newly created Houston County and was later reincorporated in August 1957. It is part of the Dothan, Alabama Metropolitan Statistical Area. At the 2010 census the population was 2,198, up from 1,796 in 2000. History Kinsey was named for an early postmaster, Eliza Kinsey. Geography Kinsey is located in northern Houston County at (31.291688, -85.345487). It is bordered to the south and west by the city of Dothan, to the southeast by the town of Webb, and to the north by the city of Headland in Henry County. Rehobeth is a town in Houston County, Alabama, United States. Rehobeth, originally named Sanders, began as a crossroads community in the 1890s; however, it was not until 1996, that the town was incorporated. Newville, Alabama
Newville is a town in Henry County, Alabama, United States. It is part of the Dothan, Alabama Metropolitan Statistical Area. At the 2020 census, the population was 544. History James Madison Wells founded a village called "Wells" c. 1882. When the Abbeville Southern Railroad laid tracks through the town in 1893, its name was changed to "Wells Station". The post office was built in 1894. Wells Station incorporated as "Newville" in 1903. The town of Newville became prosperous with merchants, banks, lodges, doctors, churches, Newville High School, Rosenwald High School, societies, a newspaper, a depot, sawmills, cotton gins, mule stables and all the elements required by a developing town. Newville's slow decline commenced after the Great Depression due to farm mechanization and loss of commerce. Eunola is a census-designated place and former town in Geneva County, Alabama, United States. It is part of the Dothan, Alabama Metropolitan Statistical Area. At the 2020 census, the population was 284. The town was disincorporated in 2007. History Eunola was initially listed on the 1900 U.S. Census as an incorporated community. It did not appear again on the census rolls until 1940. It was disincorporated by judicial order in 2007 due to its not having held elections in a half-century and that it lacked a minimum of 300 residents required to reincorporate under Alabama state law. History Founded in 1820, Columbia served as a major trading center for communities throughout the Wiregrass Region of Alabama between 1822–1833, which coincided as its time as Henry County seat. Henry County which then comprised portions of present-day Covington, Dale, Barbour, Coffee, Crenshaw, Bullock, Geneva, and Houston counties. It lost the county seat status to Abbeville in 1833.
