Dorothy Knowles
Dorothy Elsie Knowles, (born April 6, 1927) is a Canadian artist, most notable for her landscape paintings. She is the widow of William Perehudoff, a fellow artist who is closely associated with the Color Field movement. Career Knowles studied with Eli Bornstein at the University of Saskatchewan and she went on to study at the Goldsmith School of Art in London and Banff Centre. She was influenced by her studies at the Emma Lake Artists' Workshops The Emma Lake Artists' Workshops are affiliated with the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon. Summer art classes were originally taught by Augustus Kenderdine at Murray Point, Saskatchewan, Murray Point on Emma Lake (Saskatchewan), Emma Lake in .... Unity is a town in the western part of the Canadian province of Saskatchewan with a population of 2573. Unity is located at the intersection of Highway 14 and Highway 21, and the intersection of the CNR and CPR main rail lines. The Emma Lake Artists' Workshops are affiliated with the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon. The Royal Canadian Academy of Arts (RCA) is a Canadian arts-related organization that was founded in 1880. Banff Centre
Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, formerly known as The Banff Centre (and previously The Banff Centre for Continuing Education), located in Banff, Alberta, was established in 1933 as the Banff School of Drama. William Perehudoff
William Perehudoff (April 21, 1918 – February 26, 2013) was a Canadian artist closely associated with colour field painting. He was married to the landscape painter Dorothy Knowles. Life and career Perehudoff was born in St. Paul's Hospital in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on April 21, 1918, and was raised on a farm in the Doukhobor community of BogdanovkaGoogle Map, between the towns of Langham and Borden, Saskatchewan. His formal education ended at grade eleven, but he pursued art studies with French artist Jean Chariot at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, Colorado (1948–49), with Amédée Ozenfant at the Ozenfant School of Fine Arts, New York, New York (1949–50) and through the Emma Lake Artist's Workshops (various years, 1957 to 1990), where he became acquainted with teachers Kenneth Noland and Jules Olitski.
