Dorothy Donohue
Dorothy Margaret Donohue (February 20, 1911 – April 4, 1960) was a state legislator in California. She was a member of the California Assembly in from 1953 until her death in 1960. In 1960 she "spearheaded" the California Master Plan for Higher Education. She served with Pauline Davis in the California Assembly. She was "on the slate of delegates" to the 1960 Democratic Party Convention in Los Angeles. The California State Assembly is the lower house of the California State Legislature, the upper house being the California State Senate. California Master Plan For Higher Education
The California Master Plan for Higher Education of 1960 was developed by a survey team appointed by the Regents of the University of California and the California State Board of Education during the administration of Governor Pat Brown. UC President Clark Kerr was a key figure in its development. The Plan set up a coherent system for public postsecondary education which defined specific roles for the already-existing University of California (UC), the state colleges which were joined together by the Plan into the State College System of California and later renamed the California State University (CSU), and the junior colleges which were later organized in 1967 into the California Community Colleges (CCC) system. Pauline Davis (politician)
Pauline Lillian Vakoch Davis (January 3, 1917 – December 14, 1995) was an American politician and her career was the longest of any woman in either house of the California Legislature. She was one of the few women to serve in the California State Assembly from 1953 until she retired in 1976, including one stint between 1961 and 1966 when she was the only woman member in the Legislature.
