Dorna (sculpture)
''Dorna'' is a sculpture created by the Spanish artist Xaime Quesada, located in Pontevedra (Spain). It is also known as ''Tribute to the pilgrimage way to Santiago de Compostela'' and is currently in Gorgullón Street on the Portuguese Way opposite the Vialia shopping centre. History In 2001, the redevelopment of Uruguay Avenue and the southern bank of the Lérez River, which the Spanish Ministry of Public Works had undertaken in the city, was completed. As a highlight of the project, a large roundabout was created on Uruguay Avenue at the entrance to the Burgo Bridge and it was decided to install a monument commemorating the passage of the Portuguese pilgrimage way to Santiago de Compostela through this strategic point of the city. Xaime Quesada (artist)
Jaime (sometimes spelled Xaime) Hernandez (born 1959) is the co-creator of the alternative comic book '' Love and Rockets'' with his brothers Gilbert and Mario. Early life Jaime Hernandez grew up in Oxnard, California.Aldama, p. 119. He is the youngest of his family, with four older brothers and one sister. His family embraced comics: their mother read them frequently and old issues were kept in large quantities in the house, to be read and re-read by all over the years. "We grew up with comics," Hernandez said. "I wanted to draw comics my whole life." They read all types of comics and enjoyed those that gave a fairly realistic depiction of family life as well as the standard superhero adventures. Hernandez was particularly influenced by Hank Ketcham's ''Dennis the Menace'' and Dan DeCarlo's ''Archie''' comics. ''Valle-Inclán'', is a sculpture created by the Spanish sculptor César Lombera, located in Pontevedra (Spain). It is located in Plaza Méndez Núñez and was inaugurated on 26 June 2003. History At the beginning of the 21st century, Pontevedra City Council decided to install a monument to the writer Ramón María del Valle-Inclán in the city because of his great relationship with Pontevedra and to compensate for the removal, in 1952, of a bust of this universal writer from the gardens of the Palm Trees Park, which was donated to the municipality of A Pobra do Caramiñal. It was decided to install it in the Plaza Méndez Núñez, opposite the house of the Muruais (the brothers Jesús and Andrés), in whose important library it was trained and entered the world of literature. The ''Fiel contraste'' is a sculptural group created by the Spanish sculptor Ramón Conde, located in Pontevedra, Spain. It stands in Alhóndiga street, behind the Pontevedra City Hall, and was inaugurated on 30 April 2010.
