Dorking Football Club was a association football, football club based in Dorking, Surrey, England. The club was formed in 1880 and was the oldest senior football club in Surrey until folding in 2017. History After playing in the Mid-Surrey League in the early 1900s, Dorking were founder members of the Surrey County Senior League in 1922, and moved in 1956 to its current ground in Meadowbank Park, having previously played at a ground in Pixham Lane. The club joined the Corinthian League (football), Corinthian league in 1956 and then the Athenian League in 1963. The club merged with Guildford City F.C., Guildford City of the Southern Football League, Southern League in 1974 to form Guildford & Dorking United, with Meadowbank as the home ground. However, after just two seasons, the club collapsed in mid-season, with another club being formed called Dorking Town in 1977 to complete its predecessor's remaining games before joining the Surrey Senior League in 1977–78. Roudolphe Douala M'bela (born 25 September 1978), known as Douala, is a Cameroonian former professional footballer. Mainly a winger he could also operate as a forward, and played professionally in five countries, mainly in Portugal. The Football Association Challenge Vase, usually referred to as the FA Vase, is an annual football competition for teams playing in Steps 5 and 6 of the English National League System (or equivalently, tier 9 or 10 of the overall English football league system). For the 2017–18 season 619 entrants were accepted, with two qualifying rounds preceding the six proper rounds, semi-finals (played over two legs) and final to be played at Wembley Stadium. The Football Association Challenge Trophy, commonly known as the FA Trophy, is a men's football knockout cup competition run by and named after the English Football Association and competed for primarily by semi-professional teams. The competition was instigated in 1969 to cater to those non-league clubs that paid their players and were therefore not eligible to enter the FA Amateur Cup. Eligibility rules have changed over time, but from 2008 onwards the competition has been open to clubs playing in Steps 1–4 of the National League System, equivalent to tiers 5–8 of the overall English football league system. Westhumble
Westhumble is a village in south east England, approximately north of Dorking, Surrey. The village is not part of a civil parish, however the majority of the settlement is in the ecclesiastical Parish of Mickleham. The area is served by Box Hill & Westhumble railway station. Norbury Park (managed by Surrey Wildlife Trust) is immediately to the north and there are several National Trust properties nearby, including Box Hill and Polesden Lacey.
