Dorji Wangdi
Dorji Wangdi (born 15 August 1969) is a Bhutanese politician who has been the leader of the Bhutan Peace and Prosperity Party since 2020, and a member of the National Assembly of Bhutan, since 2008. He is currently the Opposition Leader of Bhutan after the resignation of Pema Gyamtsho from active politics. Education He received an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree from Sherubtse College, Bhutan. He completed his Master of Business Administration from Maastricht School of Management, Netherlands. Political career Wangdi was elected for the first time to the National Assembly of Bhutan from Panbang constituency in 2008 Bhutanese National Assembly election on DPT seat and received 2,217 votes. He was re-elected to the National Assembly of Bhutan as a candidate of DPT from Panbang constituency in the 2013 Bhutanese National Assembly election. Goshing Gewog (Dzongkha: སྒོ་ཤིང་) is a gewog (village block) of Zhemgang District, Bhutan. 2008 Bhutanese National Assembly Election
National Assembly elections were held in Bhutan for the first time on 24 March 2008. Two parties were registered by the Election Commission of Bhutan to contest the elections; Druk Phuensum Tshogpa, led by Jigme Y. Thinley, which was formed by the merger of the Bhutan People's United Party and All People's Party, and the People's Democratic Party (PDP). A third political party, the Bhutan National Party (BNP), had its application for the registration refused. The Druk ( bo, འབྲུག, dz, ་) is the "Thunder Dragon" of Tibetan and Bhutanese mythology and a Bhutanese national symbol. A druk appears on the flag of Bhutan, holding jewels to represent wealth. Druk Nyamrup Tshogpa ( dz, འབྲུག་མཉམ་རུབ་ཚོགས་པ།; Wylie: ''’brug nyam-rub tshogs-pa''; ), formerly the Social Democratic Party, is one of the five registered political parties in Bhutan. 2018 Bhutanese National Assembly Election
National Assembly elections were held in Bhutan in 2018; the first round was held on 15 September and the second round on 18 October. The ruling People's Democratic Party of former Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay came third in the first round of voting, unexpectedly failing to advance to the second round and resulting in it losing all 32 seats. The second round was a contest between the Druk Phuensum Tshogpa, the only other party with parliamentary representation, and the unrepresented Druk Nyamrup Tshogpa, which received the most votes in the first round. People's Democratic Party (Bhutan)
The People's Democratic Party ( dz, མི་སེར་དམངས་གཙོའི་ཚོགས་པ།; Wylie: ''mi-ser dmangs-gtsoi tshogs-pa''; PDP) is one of the major political parties in Bhutan, formed on 24 March 2007. The founder president of this party is Sangay Ngedup, the former prime minister and agriculture minister of the Royal Government of Bhutan. The current leader of the party is Tshering Tobgay.
