Dordrecht (), historically known in English as Dordt (still colloquially used in Dutch, ) or Dort, is a city and municipality in the Western Netherlands, located in the province of South Holland. Adriaan Van Der Burg
Adriaan van der Burg (1693–1733) was an 18th-century painter from the Northern Netherlands. Biography Van der Burg was born and died in Dordrecht. Thérèse Schwartze
Thérèse Schwartze (20 December 185123 December 1918) was a Dutch people, Dutch portrait Painting, painter. Life Thérèse Schwartze was born on 20 December 1851 in Amsterdam in the Netherlands. She was the daughter of the painter Johan Georg Schwartze, who grew up in Philadelphia and trained in Düsseldorf. Schwartze received her first training from her father, before studying for a year at the Rijksacademie van Beeldende Kunsten. She then travelled to Munich and studied under Gabriel Max and Franz von Lenbach. In 1879 she went to Paris to continue her studies under Jean-Jacques Henner. When she returned to Amsterdam she became a member of Arti et Amicitiae. Schwartze exhibited her work at the Museum of Science and Industry (Chicago), Palace of Fine Arts at the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago, Illinois. Adam Willaerts (21 July 1577 – 4 April 1664) was a Dutch Golden Age painter. Biography Willaerts (occasionally ''Willarts'', ''Willers'') was born in London to Flemish parents who had fled from Antwerp for religious reasons. By 1585 the family lived in Leiden. From 1597 until his death, Adam lived and worked in Utrecht. He became a member of the Utrecht Guild of St. Luke in 1611 and subsequently became its dean in 1620. His sons Cornelis, Abraham, and Isaac followed in his footsteps. He was known as a painter of river and canal pieces, coastal landscapes, fish-markets, processions, and genre scenes. Jan Veth
Jan Pieter Veth (18 May 1864, Dordrecht – 1 July 1925, Amsterdam) was a Dutch painter, poet, art critic and university lecturer. He is especially noted as a portrait painter. Amongst his sitters were Max Liebermann, Lambertus Zijl, Frank van der Goes, Antoon Derkinderen and other contemporaries including various fellow painters. Biography Jan Veth was the son of Gerradus Huibert Veth, a Dordrecht iron merchant and liberal politician, and Anna Cornelia Giltay. On his mother's side he descended from the Dordrecht painter family of Van Strij (his mother was a granddaughter of Jacob van Strij). He married Anna Dorothea Dirks on 10 August 1888, from which marriage came five children. Veth received his art education at the ''Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten'' in Amsterdam. Jacobus Cornelis Johannes "Jacques" van der Heyden (professional name JCJ Vanderheyden) (23 June 1928 – 27 February 2012) was a Dutch painter and photographer. Life and work JCJ Vanderheyden was born in 1928 in 's-Hertogenbosch. He studied from 1946 to 1956 at the Academy of Art and Design St. Joost in 's-Hertogenbosch and painting at the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht.
